Job Description The Project Safety Manager will be responsible for oversight of the project safety disciplines and monitor day-to-day construction operations. Review and approve proposed changes to ensure they don't introduce new hazards or compromise existing safety systems. Process Safety Information (PSI) Maintenance: Maintain current and accurate process safety information including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and safety data sheets for all chemicals used in the re-refining process. Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations of process safety incidents, near misses, and equipment failures using systematic methodologies. Develop comprehensive corrective and preventive action plans, and communicate lessons learned across the organization. Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures specific to refinery hazards including hydrocarbon releases, fire scenarios, and equipment failures. Coordinate with local emergency responders, conduct regular emergency drills, and associated required training . Incident Management & Analysis Actively support the injury management process to ensure the appropriate level of care is administered to affected personnel. Ensure working relationships are maintained with key personnel at designated clinics and injury management protocols are in place and robust. Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Management Ensure that GFL facilities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other local, state, and federal standards through regular audits and compliance assessments. Ensure that all hazardous and nonhazardous waste management activities and environmental operating permits are managed and conducted in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Workplace Safety & Training Provide comprehensive training to employees to follow safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment through training sessions, presentations, conference calls, and the distribution of safety materials. Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to specific job functions and operational hazards. Your Opportunity As part of our FS/QA team, you would conduct routine sanitation checks, ensuring that HAACP and USDA regulations are strictly enforced. Position is responsible for overseeing the food safety and quality programs in specific production departments within the plant. This role has the overall accountability of ensuring the applicable food safety and quality programs are fully implemented and documented to ensure USDA regulatory compliance and the production of safe and wholesome products. Masters and applies all QA/FS policies and procedures in daily interactions with plant production and quality employees. Is accountable for the plant's Food Safety and Quality System within specific production departments and must provide solid leadership, training and improvement strategies to achieve company, plant, and department goals. May assume FS/QA Manager duties when needed. Core Responsibilities Quality, Food Safety and SQF Verification and Compliance Within specific departments verifies that all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, SQF and Regulatory programs are functioning as designed, being followed and correctly documented - thus ensuring the facility has the "evidence" required to prove the products being produced are safe, wholesome and meet Smithfield (and/or customer) quality specifications. Able to quickly and thoroughly investigate a product/process failure, determine the root cause and take prompt corrective actions; while minimizing product exposure and production down time. For assigned departments must demonstrate ownership and practical knowledge of all applicable QA and Food Safety programs and applies them throughout daily responsibilities to make sound decisions and execute food safety & quality oversight. The duties may include regular completion of Food Safety, CCP and sanitation paperwork that should ultimately result in no FS deviations. Conducts FMP and Sanitation audits as directed with documented corrective actions and follow-up, as necessary. Investigates and takes action in response to negative micro and Shelf Life data to drive improvement. SQF Assists in creation and maintenance of SQF Plan. Completes reassessments of SQF Plan if: Addition or removal of processing steps. Introduction of new product with processing steps not in currently included. At a minimum SQF Plan is reassessed annually. Takes appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System. Communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System. Personnel Management Responsible for managing the work assignments and the training of specific food safety and quality assurance staff members. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in food science or Applied Science field. At least three to five (3-5) years of work experience. A mixture of education and experience equivalent to the above may substitute. Experience auditing various USDA & FDA regulated facilities. Knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, GMP, GFSI schemes are essential. Diverse backgrounds of food manufacturing and kitchen services is a plus. Job Description

The Project Safety Manager will be responsible for oversight of the project safety disciplines and monitor day-to-day construction operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as a top priority by monitoring and maintaining a safe work environment

  • Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures

  • Conduct training, including new hire orientation and safety meetings

  • Monitor all heavy construction work for compliance with safety requirements

  • Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines, and ensure cost control measures are being followed

  • Embody the Ames approach to Safety, being constantly vigilant of conditions and work practices, being empowered to stop all unsafe work

  • Assess risk management and investigate incidents

  • Provide and analyze project safety statistics

  • Assist Project Manager with project setups

  • Communicate with client and subcontractors

  • Collaborate with regional safety team

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education & Skills

  • Five plus years of experience in a construction safety supervisorial role

  • Highly knowledgeable in all aspects of civil construction

  • OSHA 500 or equivalent preferred

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred

  • Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals preferred

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral

  • Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills

  • Must have a valid driver's license and successfully pass a security background screening

Working Conditions

  • Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels

  • Office Environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally
