Shift: Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:30pm) What You'll Do: Provide industrial/healthcare facilities and environmental health and safety support in a high-volume clinical laboratory. Monitor and maintain freezers, fridges, and incubators to ensure samples and reagents are being stored properly. Ensure all electrical, HVAC, and building facilities meet operational and regulatory requirements. Complete routine maintenance and checks as well as coordinating repairs on facilities and safety equipment and appliances, such as water purifiers, ice machines, BSCs, fume hoods, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, showers, first aid kits, etc. Work closely with building engineers on an as-needed basis to resolve facilities-related issues. Coordinate and escort contractors and vendors to various areas of the lab to perform work/repairs as needed. Monitor the use and disposal of chemicals and biohazardous materials from all lab areas per state and federal guidelines and coordinate with external contractors for hazardous waste disposal. Serve as the leader of the local Safety Committee, attending regular cross-site meetings led by the Tempus EHS Manager, and ensuring all regulations are consistently met and needed process improvements implemented. Assist in execution and/or coordination of emergency response procedures for fires, spills, exposures, and forces of nature. Complete and document monthly safety audits within the laboratory. Follow up with the Safety team and Laboratory Directors with reports. Conduct new-hire laboratory safety training tours. Aid Safety team with accident investigations as needed. Support and work with Tempus QC team and security team on an as needed basis. Perform physically demanding tasks such as the following: Assist with the cleanup of trash and chemical/biohazardous waste from the lab space. Remove ice buildup inside lab freezers on a regular cadence. Move or assemble equipment, lab benches, chairs, and tables as needed. Complete documentation of work in compliance with regulatory requirements. Must have: High School diploma or equivalent 5+ years experience working in an industrial/healthcare facilities setting 3+ years experience in an EHS-related role Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations for laboratory work environment and personnel is desired Thrives in a fast-paced environment with an ability to handle time and temperature sensitive critical materials Great communication (email & phone) and interpersonal abilities for external providers as well as internal customers Ability to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business Experience using hand tools and basic understanding of electrical systems Ability to work with cleaning supplies and chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift repeatedly for extended periods of time Remain in standing, walking, and bending position for extended periods of time We are an equal opportunity employer. Shift: Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:30pm)

What You'll Do:

  • Provide industrial/healthcare facilities and environmental health and safety support in a high-volume clinical laboratory.

  • Monitor and maintain freezers, fridges, and incubators to ensure samples and reagents are being stored properly.

  • Ensure all electrical, HVAC, and building facilities meet operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Complete routine maintenance and checks as well as coordinating repairs on facilities and safety equipment and appliances, such as water purifiers, ice machines, BSCs, fume hoods, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, showers, first aid kits, etc.

  • Work closely with building engineers on an as-needed basis to resolve facilities-related issues.

  • Coordinate and escort contractors and vendors to various areas of the lab to perform work/repairs as needed.

  • Monitor the use and disposal of chemicals and biohazardous materials from all lab areas per state and federal guidelines and coordinate with external contractors for hazardous waste disposal.

  • Serve as the leader of the local Safety Committee, attending regular cross-site meetings led by the Tempus EHS Manager, and ensuring all regulations are consistently met and needed process improvements implemented.

  • Assist in execution and/or coordination of emergency response procedures for fires, spills, exposures, and forces of nature.

  • Complete and document monthly safety audits within the laboratory. Follow up with the Safety team and Laboratory Directors with reports.

  • Conduct new-hire laboratory safety training tours.

  • Aid Safety team with accident investigations as needed. Support and work with Tempus QC team and security team on an as needed basis.

  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as the following:

  • Assist with the cleanup of trash and chemical/biohazardous waste from the lab space.

  • Remove ice buildup inside lab freezers on a regular cadence.

  • Move or assemble equipment, lab benches, chairs, and tables as needed.

  • Complete documentation of work in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Must have:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience working in an industrial/healthcare facilities setting

  • 3+ years experience in an EHS-related role

  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations for laboratory work environment and personnel is desired

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with an ability to handle time and temperature sensitive critical materials

  • Great communication (email & phone) and interpersonal abilities for external providers as well as internal customers

  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business

  • Experience using hand tools and basic understanding of electrical systems

  • Ability to work with cleaning supplies and chemicals with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift repeatedly for extended periods of time

  • Remain in standing, walking, and bending position for extended periods of time
