Job Description: The Recovery Associate role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) of Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” or “Company”) processes and organizes all damaged and recalled merchandise in an effort to identify resalable items and maximize credits in a manner that meets company established standards in safety, quality, and productivity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accurately complete and submit a daily productivity sheet. Examine all incoming pallets, and break down and organize merchandise into designated storage areas. Verify accuracy of quantity, SKU, and defects listed on the damage and recall logs. Properly destroy certain products as requested by Buyers or vendors. Haul Return to Warehouse (RTW) product as well as damaged, recalled, and packaway product to designated areas. Report any stores for non-compliance with damage policies to the Area Manager. Prepare and load pallets for shipments as needed, including back to vendors and donations. Prepare and ship repaired merchandise or parts to stores. Work in compliance with standard operating procedures, audit-control procedures, as well as state and federal regulations. Maintain a neat, orderly and clean work area to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of the Powered Equipment Training, Area Training, and associate proficiency tests. Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and attain any associated licensing. Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards. Ability to perform tasks with attention to details. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Interpersonal and communication skills as required for a team environment. What you will be doing:

  • Tracks employee hours in account to provide feedback
  • Directs team of employees for one or more accounts in warehouse
  • Coordinates with CSR and Operations Supervisor to determine shipping schedules, labor requirements for rework projects, and cycle counts
  • Unloads and moves inbound freight product to storage locations safely and efficiently
  • Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded
  • Performs picking duties in an efficient manner that meets both customer and company standards

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with warehouse equipment, preferably a Stand Up Forklift 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Synapse training preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
