Certified Peer Specialist- Correction Integrated Support Program (Twin Cities Metro Area)

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to join our Corrections Integrated Support Team to work directly with clients who are currently justice involved. This role is part of a multi-disciplinary team providing wrap-around services from initial assessments to integrated release planning, post-release care coordination, and access to community supports.

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday- Friday | 8:30am-5pm

Locations: Hybrid | Twin Cities Metro Area

Hiring Range: Based on qualifications and past work experience.

  • Certified Peer Specialist I: $20.00 - $21.60 hourly, plus $1000 hiring bonus
  • Certified Peer Specialist II: $22.00 - $23.76 hourly, plus $1000 hiring bonus

Main Job Duties:

  • Provide quality program services to the individuals served in a professional manner. Complete required documentation according to program standards and timelines.
  • Provide peer support to those dealing with substance use and/or mental health symptoms.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, education and skill-building around wellness planning, crisis planning, and self-advocacy to support the clients' recovery goals.
  • Provide services that help clients identify their strengths and to use their strengths to reach their treatment goals and identify and overcome barriers to participate in community resources.
  • Provide peer support to those experiencing mental health symptoms and/or a history of chemical dependency.

Requirements

Required Qualifications: Certified Peer Specialist I

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Current DHS certification as a Certified Peer Specialist OR Current MCB certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
  • Have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Have a primary diagnosis of mental illness
  • Is a current or former consumer of mental health services
  • Demonstrate leadership and advocacy skills and have a strong dedication to recovery.
  • Must be free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact, if applicable.

Required qualifications: Certified Peer Specialist II

  • Meet the Required Certified Peer Specialist I Qualifications (above),

AND the following:

  • High school diploma and:
  • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, Developmental disabilities, ID or TBI
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, DD, ID or TBI, requiring clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of experience is met

OR

  • Has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field
  • Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related field
  • Has 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, DD, ID or TBI

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field
  • proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.

Required Certifications:

  • Current DHS certification as a Certified Peer Specialist
  • Current MCB certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

OR

  • The ability to provide proof of certification within 30days of hire.
