Job Description

Who we are looking for

State Street’s newly formed Data Intelligence unit is seeking a Managing Director–level Data Scientist to lead development of data‑driven products that enhance client outcomes using the firm’s proprietary data assets. The team builds and expands offerings such as PriceStats, the world’s leading source of high‑frequency inflation analytics, and the Private Capital Indices, derived from State Street’s extensive private equity and private credit datasets. The role will drive new product innovation across private capital, trading, and economic data sourced internally and through partnerships.

Why this role is important to us

You will be joining the Institutional Services function that allows us to deliver a comprehensive, holistic approach to each client relationship — for asset managers and asset owners, insurance companies, and official institutions globally. It means our client-facing functions work together to bring the very best solutions and services the firm has to offer — across all of our locations, products, and capabilities.

Join us if making your mark on the long-lasting client relationships we build is a challenge you are up for.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics and machine‑learning solutions using State Street’s proprietary data.
  • Oversee methodological research and product development for private capital and economic data products.
  • Collaborate with technology, research, and business teams to scale data product development and client‑facing analytics.
  • Communicate insights, model performance, and product direction to clients and senior stakeholders.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Expertise in Python, SQL, machine learning, AI, and modern data‑science techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative financial methods and experience working with large, complex financial datasets.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Statistics).
  • Exceptional communication, technical/quantitative, and collaborative product development skills are a must.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, quantitative research, or a related role.

Are you the right candidate? Yes!

We truly believe in the power that comes from the diverse backgrounds and experiences our employees bring with them. Although each vacancy details what we are looking for, we don’t necessarily need you to fulfil all of them when applying.
