Likewise, workflow management tools that track assignments, deadlines, and team capacity can optimize resource allocation and enhance collaboration. We are seeking passionate candidates to design and develop lightweight applications that support both scientific and operational needs, including visualization of complex clinical datasets, automated data validation frameworks, and scheduling tools for project management. By integrating automation and intuitive interfaces, these applications will help the team better investigate data, manage workloads, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike. This internship will provide hands-on experience in full-stack software engineering with real-world datasets, offering opportunities to work on user interface design, backend development, data validation, and advanced visualization. The role offers a unique chance to contribute to the transformation of data science workflows in a clinical research setting, while gaining exposure to the intersection of software engineering and pharmaceutical R&D. As part of the Bristol Myers Squibb Intern Program, the intern will have an opportunity to gain understanding of the drug development process through interactions with matrix drug development teams, as well as networking opportunities with other interns/BMS colleagues. By developing applications that bridge software engineering and data science, this internship will enhance the team's ability to manage projects, validate data, and extract insights, ultimately contributing to more efficient and reliable pharmaceutical research. The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with experience employees in the Data Science group on projects applicable to: Application Development: Design and implement lightweight web applications to support data science workflows, including tools for parsing, examining, and cleaning clinical datasets. Visualization: Develop interactive visualization platforms to investigate complex datasets, identify patterns and anomalies, and communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Workflow Optimization: Build scheduling and resource management tools to track project assignments, deadlines, and team capacity, enabling more efficient workload distribution when new projects are initiated. Integration and Automation: Incorporate automation into routine processes, such as data ingestion, validation, and reporting, to reduce manual effort and improve reproducibility across projects. Participate in the BMS Intern Program activities and presented work at greater team meetings and scientific poster sessions. Qualifications & Experience Currently enrolled in either Graduate or PhD program with a graduation date later than August 2026. Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript. Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React, or Angular. Experience with backend development using tools such as FastAPI, Flask, or Node.js. Exposure to data visualization libraries or frameworks (e.g., Plotly) for building interactive dashboards. All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Nice to Have: Understanding of version control (Git), testing practices, and reproducibility principles. Experience in understanding and working with clinical data. Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS. The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $35.00 to $43.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job.
