The primary objective of this research is to explore quantum materials and their unique physical phenomena, such as metal-insulator transitions, charge-spin-lattice correlations, and the critical role of defects and interfaces. Utilizing state-of-the-art electron microscopy, planned experiments will include atomic-scale imaging, high energy-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), 4D scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), and cryogenic microscopy, enhanced by machine-learning and data-driven analysis techniques. Additionally, the study will encompass electrically triggered events that mimic the voltage-based signaling of biological synapses—an essential characteristic for replicating neural network behavior. The position offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research at the intersection of quantum materials and advanced electron microscopy. Researchers will benefit from BNL’s unparalleled suite of electron microscopy tools, including aberration-corrected instruments from JEOL, Hitachi, and Thermo Fisher, as well as two upcoming monochromated Nion U-HERMES microscopes scheduled for delivery in 2025. BNL also houses a laser-free ultrafast electron microscope for time-resolved diffraction and imaging under RF excitation. Job Description

After completing a paid training program, you will present AWESOME, hands-on science programs to elementary-aged kids, including launching your very own rockets hundreds of feet into the air and performing many other thrilling experiments! Kids (and adults) will be amazed!
 
Who are we Looking For?
-        We are looking for outgoing, enthusiastic, and punctual instructors that love working with kids! 
 -        You must have your own car and driver’s license (this does not include rides from family or friends). 
 -        You must be able to pass background checks.
 -        Must think making slime is pretty cool!
 
 Schedule and Pay
-        You will be scheduled on programs close to home two or more afternoons per week. 
 -        Mileage compensated for any program over 25 mile round trip.
-        $40 for every 1.5 hour program.
 
Program themes include, NASA, developed in partnership with NASA, BRIXOLOGY (our engineering program developed exclusively for Mad Science with Lego™), Crazy Chemworks, and MANY MORE!!!!
