The Basics Tanium is expanding rapidly and is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer with a strong focus on data integrations and ETL pipeline development. This role will play a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines that connect our enterprise systems across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have deep experience designing and implementing data integrations, automating data workflows, and ensuring efficient and reliable data movement across the Tanium ecosystem. This individual will collaborate closely with IT, Engineering, and Business Systems teams to develop integration strategies, maintain data governance standards, and enhance the overall data infrastructure that supports key business processes and insights. This position reports to the Manager of Data Eng & Integrations and will serve as a pivotal contributor to Tanium's mission of creating a more connected, data-driven organization. This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA. What you'll do Data Pipeline & Integration Development Design, develop, and maintain scalable, enterprise-grade ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data across internal and external systems. Build secure, high-performance integrations between on-prem and cloud-based platforms, ensuring reliability, consistency, and timely data delivery. Architect and manage data ingestion processes from systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, SuccessFactors, Coupa, and other corporate applications. Identify and implement internal process improvements including automation, data quality controls, and optimization of data delivery. Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies across all integration workflows. Integration Architecture & Optimization Analyze complex business and technical requirements to design scalable data integration solutions. Lead efforts to modernize and rationalize legacy integrations and optimize existing data pipelines for performance and maintainability. Collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement frameworks that enhance data accessibility and usability across teams. Monitor integration performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively implement improvements or system upgrades as needed. Operational Excellence & Automation Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices for data pipeline deployment, version control, and change management. Create, maintain, and continually update documentation for all integration workflows, data models, and process automation scripts. Ensure timely root-cause analysis and resolution of data or system integration incidents. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work directly with stakeholders from IT, Finance, HR, and Engineering to align integration and reporting initiatives with business objectives. Partner with external vendors or service providers to implement and maintain robust integration solutions. Act as a technical advisor within the business systems team, contributing best practices for integration design and development. We're looking for someone with Education Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Required Experience 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, or system integration roles within enterprise environments. Proven success in building, maintaining, and scaling ETL pipelines using dedicated ETL or data integration tools. Strong knowledge of data modeling, APIs (RESTful/SOAP), and data warehousing concepts. Experience designing integrations across diverse systems in cloud and on-premises environments. Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript for scripting and automation. Hands-on experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake or similar) and workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to diagram and communicate end-to-end data flows across complex system landscapes. Familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering environments. Strong understanding of SDLC frameworks, change management, and IT governance processes. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AWS and related data services (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue). Familiarity with BI tools and reporting platforms. Experience working with cross-functional Business Systems teams and Agile project management methodologies. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business language. Role Snapshot Our Internship Program with WPS Health Solutions is comprised of two key components. The first component involves gaining practical experience to supplement academic coursework and prepare for future career pursuits. This will be comprised of a hands-on role within a functional area related to a relevant field of study. The Basics

Tanium is expanding rapidly and is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer with a strong focus on data integrations and ETL pipeline development. This role will play a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines that connect our enterprise systems across both on-premises and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience designing and implementing data integrations, automating data workflows, and ensuring efficient and reliable data movement across the Tanium ecosystem. This individual will collaborate closely with IT, Engineering, and Business Systems teams to develop integration strategies, maintain data governance standards, and enhance the overall data infrastructure that supports key business processes and insights.

This position reports to the Manager of Data Eng & Integrations and will serve as a pivotal contributor to Tanium's mission of creating a more connected, data-driven organization.

This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

What you'll do

Data Pipeline & Integration Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, enterprise-grade ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data across internal and external systems.
  • Build secure, high-performance integrations between on-prem and cloud-based platforms, ensuring reliability, consistency, and timely data delivery.
  • Architect and manage data ingestion processes from systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, SuccessFactors, Coupa, and other corporate applications.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements including automation, data quality controls, and optimization of data delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies across all integration workflows.

Integration Architecture & Optimization

  • Analyze complex business and technical requirements to design scalable data integration solutions.
  • Lead efforts to modernize and rationalize legacy integrations and optimize existing data pipelines for performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement frameworks that enhance data accessibility and usability across teams.
  • Monitor integration performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively implement improvements or system upgrades as needed.

Operational Excellence & Automation

  • Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices for data pipeline deployment, version control, and change management.
  • Create, maintain, and continually update documentation for all integration workflows, data models, and process automation scripts.
  • Ensure timely root-cause analysis and resolution of data or system integration incidents.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work directly with stakeholders from IT, Finance, HR, and Engineering to align integration and reporting initiatives with business objectives.
  • Partner with external vendors or service providers to implement and maintain robust integration solutions.
  • Act as a technical advisor within the business systems team, contributing best practices for integration design and development.

We're looking for someone with

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, or system integration roles within enterprise environments.
  • Proven success in building, maintaining, and scaling ETL pipelines using dedicated ETL or data integration tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, APIs (RESTful/SOAP), and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience designing integrations across diverse systems in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript for scripting and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake or similar) and workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to diagram and communicate end-to-end data flows across complex system landscapes.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC frameworks, change management, and IT governance processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS and related data services (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue).
  • Familiarity with BI tools and reporting platforms.
  • Experience working with cross-functional Business Systems teams and Agile project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into business language.
  • Experience with integration platforms such as Workato or Dell Boomi.

What you'll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $215,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire.
