Lead the recruitment, development, and management of a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers. Setup a new team in India to expand our ability to hire top talent across the globe. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the data science organization, emphasizing the exploration of generative AI. Partner with business leaders across the organization to identify and prioritize AI/ML opportunities that can deliver significant business value, with a specific focus on where generative AI can provide a competitive advantage. Oversee the entire AI/ML product development lifecycle, from ideation and research to production and deployment. Ensure the development and implementation of robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support large-scale AI/ML models, including those built with generative AI techniques. Champion responsible AI practices and governance and ensure that our AI products are developed and deployed in a fair, unbiased, and ethical manner. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in generative AI research and translate them into practical applications for our products. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts, including those related to generative AI, to both technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications MS/PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum 10+ years of experience leading and managing teams building data science or machine learning products. Proven track record of successfully developing and launching AI/ML products that have delivered significant business impact. Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data engineering principles, software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps), and a strong foundation in generative AI concepts. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a diverse team. Experience as a leader at a startup helping build the product and the team from the ground up. Compensation: Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location. The base salary range for this role in the United States is $250,000-320,000 This role is also eligible for a target annual bonus of 25% of base salary, based on individual and company performance. About the Role

We are searching for a visionary and accomplished Sr Director, Engineering AI/ML Products to lead our team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers. In this critical role, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for our AI/ML product development, with a particular emphasis on generative AI products. You will lead our data science organization, driving the successful creation and launch of industry-leading AI-powered products built the leading hyper scalers (Amazon AWS / Google GCP / Microsoft Azure).

A key aspect of this role will be the utilization of top Generative AI technologies such as Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and others. These offer a powerful foundation for developing innovative AI products, and you will be responsible for integrating their capabilities into our products. This includes, for example, exploring how Google Gemini can power Alteryx Copilot which helps our customers more easily create Alteryx Workflows. You will also work on new products and functionality our teams are working on which allows our customers to use Generative AI platforms to accelerate the value they get from Alteryx Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data science and machine learning strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives, with a focus on incorporating generative AI techniques.
  • Lead the recruitment, development, and management of a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers.
  • Setup a new team in India to expand our ability to hire top talent across the globe.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the data science organization, emphasizing the exploration of generative AI.
  • Partner with business leaders across the organization to identify and prioritize AI/ML opportunities that can deliver significant business value, with a specific focus on where generative AI can provide a competitive advantage.
  • Oversee the entire AI/ML product development lifecycle, from ideation and research to production and deployment.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support large-scale AI/ML models, including those built with generative AI techniques.
  • Champion responsible AI practices and governance and ensure that our AI products are developed and deployed in a fair, unbiased, and ethical manner.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in generative AI research and translate them into practical applications for our products.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts, including those related to generative AI, to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience leading and managing teams building data science or machine learning products.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and launching AI/ML products that have delivered significant business impact.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data engineering principles, software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps), and a strong foundation in generative AI concepts.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a diverse team.
  • Excellent business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions, with a focus on identifying opportunities for generative AI.
  • Experience in building and scaling data infrastructure for large-scale AI/ML applications.
  • Passion for artificial intelligence and a strong belief in its potential to transform industries, especially with the power of generative AI.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Alteryx Products.
  • Experience building and deploying generative AI models in production environments.
  • Public speaking experience and a proven ability to present complex technical topics in an engaging way, including those related to generative AI.
  • Open-source contributions or active participation in the AI/ML community, particularly in generative AI research.
  • Experience with globally distributed teams.
  • Experience with 50 - 60 person teams.
  • Experience as a leader at a startup helping build the product and the team from the ground up.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

The base salary range for this role in the United States is $250,000-320,000 This role is also eligible for a target annual bonus of 25% of base salary, based on individual and company performance.

In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, this role includes clear forms of additional compensation, such as:

  • A monthly Connectivity Plus stipend of $150 to support remote work-related expenses
  • An annual $200 home office reimbursement
