We're seeking a strategic Aircraft Data Product Manager to define and drive the complete ecosystem of data flows, digital systems, and operational insights that create value between our aircraft, customers, and BETA. The ideal candidate will be self-directed and have strong product management experience, preferably in aviation, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. The candidate will be highly adept at collaborating with internal and external teams and dedicated to our people-centric culture. We are looking for someone who will enjoy working in a complex technical environment involving multi-disciplinary data collection, transfer, and productization activities to drive requirements definition and implementation, serving both internal stakeholders and external customers.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Data Product Strategy and Development:
  • Define comprehensive requirements for BETA's aircraft data product ecosystem, collaborating with subject matter experts
  • Develop product roadmaps and prioritization frameworks
  • Create strategic value propositions, business cases, and ROI analysis
  • Design incentive mechanisms aligning customer and BETA interests
  • Cross-Functional Integration and Architecture:
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data capture, storage, transmission, and utilization
  • Work with engineering teams to develop architecture for operational data pipelines
  • Support ground station and server application product strategy
  • Establish operational data collection strategy for continuous improvement
  • Customer Engagement and Product Definition:
  • Drive customer discovery to understand operational ecosystems and unmet needs
  • Navigate data ownership, privacy, and liability concerns
  • Define product specifications and customer value propositions
  • Develop comprehensive cost models for data products
  • Software and Compliance:
  • Coordinate software development for data acquisition products
  • Ensure compliance with certification standards (DO-178C, DO-278A)
  • Collaborate with UX/UI and Data Science teams to design intuitive tools
  • Establish success metrics for product adoption and performance

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of product management experience with demonstrated success in defining and launching data products or digital solutions
  • Strong understanding of data systems, digital product development, and technology implementation
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Customer-centric mindset with experience in both internal and external product management
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product development processes
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
  • Comfortable with frequent change and thrives in high-pressure environments

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Aviation industry experience, particularly in aircraft operations, maintenance, or data systems
  • Experience with Grafana, Python, and data visualization platforms
  • Knowledge of configuration management systems and processes
  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance troubleshooting and operational workflows
  • Experience with aircraft software upload processes and systems
  • Background in IoT, telematics, or connected vehicle/aircraft data products
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), data warehousing, and enterprise data architecture, including understanding of cloud security principles
  • PMP Certification or demonstrated project management experience
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in aviation data management (e.g., FAA, EASA requirements)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This role involves regular collaboration with team members in diverse BETA work environments, including aircraft hangars, flight operations facilities, laboratories, and hardware development areas. Candidate must be comfortable working in active technical environments to gain firsthand understanding of the customer data experience and operational workflows. Occasional travel is also anticipated to understand customer operational ecosystems and engage with key stakeholders.

$120,000 - $160,000 a year

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. We pay competitively and base compensation on a variety of factors including skills, experience, industry background, and the evolving needs of the role.
