The Impact You’ll Make As a Data Scientist on the Notifications team, you will partner with Analytics Engineers to execute CP data foundation roadmaps, collaborate with our cross-functional teams to develop and execute key ecosystem roadmaps, and define/own the ways we measure success and elevate experimentation capabilities of the team. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date. RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform complex technical assignments involving instrumentation and data acquisition/processing systems Maintain, calibrate, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot, install, and repair instrumentation, process controls, data acquisition systems, and electrical systems Investigate, diagnose, correct, and document instrumentation or system malfunctions Analyze results of calibrations and processed data, and assist in the interpretation of test data Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of test setups and equipment Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electrical and electronic units, assemblies, components, parts, equipment, and systems Configure the data acquisition hardware Perform wire terminations to a variety of instruments and verify sensor health: pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, limits, and flow meters Install connectors, connector pins, terminals, and lugs Perform continuity checks, locate and correct wiring errors using measuring instruments such as ohmmeters and sequential continuity checkers Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components, and record effects on unit performance Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches Perform layout and wiring of electrical panels Collaborate with design engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or other electrical field Experience working with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, flow meters, multimeters, or oscilloscopes (experience from a college program counts) PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience working with any of the following instrumentation: resistance temperature devices (RTDs), silicon diode temperature devices, strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and flow meters (turbine, coriolis, and ultrasonic) Basic knowledge of Wheatstone Bridge Theory, ability to apply Ohm's Law, and an understanding of DC electronics Operational knowledge of an oscilloscope and multi-meter, soldering wires and connectors, operation of various crimping tools, wire stripping, continuity testing, pinning out a military type connector, routing and tie wrapping cables, drilling and tapping holes, and building junction boxes System-level troubleshooting skills and the ability to logically solve instrumentation system problems and determine corrective action Experience with Variable Frequency Drives and motor starters, and knowledge in troubleshooting Knowledge in signal conditioning concepts for various types of sensors, to include the following: thermocouple Types K, S, and E; TC bonding concepts: resistance weld on and adhesive bond on types; TC probes through thermowell sheaths; cold junction compensation concepts Background should include experience with the following devices: DC power supplies, DC-DC convertors, UPS installations, heat shrink tubing, cable harnessing, lacing, and proper strain relief concepts Working knowledge of transducers, operational amplifiers, and the knowledge of measurement techniques for temperature, pressure, flow, displacement, vibration, and the application of strain gauges are also highly desired. The Impact You’ll Make

As a Data Scientist on the Notifications team, you will partner with Analytics Engineers to execute CP data foundation roadmaps, collaborate with our cross-functional teams to develop and execute key ecosystem roadmaps, and define/own the ways we measure success and elevate experimentation capabilities of the team.

This person will work closely with various cross-functional teams such as product, engineering, design to develop and deliver metrics, analyses, solutions, and insights.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Experiment design: Make sure we run experiments efficiently and accurately, including monitoring early feature development through tracking post-release follow-ups
  • Develop and share key strategic insights through data analysis, evaluating the performance and impact of the product team
  • Build scalable metrics and dashboards to inform product strategy
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support product development efforts (including product, design, engineering, marketing, and operations)

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 7+ years of data science and product analytics experience
  • BS and/or MS in a quantitative discipline: statistics, operations research, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, physics, economics, etc.
  • Experience in applied statistics and statistical modeling in at least one statistical software package, preferably Python
  • Experience in designing trustworthy experimentation and analyzing complex product a/b testing results
  • Experience identifying, designing, and delivering ergonomic tables to amplify speed + accuracy of key analysis and self-serve reports
  • Experience developing and executing on key ecosystems, understanding roadmaps, and building new capabilities (e.g., customer segment framework)
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, Python programming, including common scientific computing packages and data science tools such as numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audiences, including executives and compile compelling narratives
  • Ability to solve ambiguous business problems with structured analytics framework
  • Innate curiosity around finding meaningful insights that inform the way we think about and develop both our product and our business strategies
  • Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies to reimagine how work gets done

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting base salary for this role for San Francisco, CA area is expected to range from $175,000 to $270,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography. We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
