YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible to ensure the functioning, upkeep, preventive maintenance, and ad hoc maintenance of mechanical system (HVAC systems, chillers, dry coolers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.) Ensures all repairs performed on all data center infrastructure are according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, best practices, and company SOP’s Develops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacements Completes all preventive and ad hoc maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly and monthly site checks Work with the site Data Center Site Manager to create preventive maintenance plans and track and complete preventive and predicative maintenance schedules Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages Develops and maintains relevant standard operating procedures (SOP) Manages and coordinates vendors as needed Utilizes ticketing and work order systems to successfully identify and resolve problems and maintenance items Performs and documents root cause analysis on critical equipment Ensures that sufficient spare parts are available on site for frequently used parts or parts with long lead times and maintains critical spares register Monitors for and responds to BMS (Building Monitoring System) alarms in accordance with engineering policies and procedures, escalating to site management Manages the work approval process for service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day, final review of the work carried out) Ensures that all safety standards are followed, as well quality procedures related to maintenance, including all Incident Management YOUR REQUIREMENTS: Mechanical engineering degree or technical school with relevant certifications/licenses and a minimum of 7 years industry experience Demonstrated expertise in design and/or operation of critical MEP infrastructure, including water-cooled and air-cooled air conditioning systems, critical data center mechanical distribution systems, and monitoring systems. The Mechanical Technician role is with the Ardent Data Center business of the Northern Data Group. Ardent is rapidly growing globally, and the United States is one of strategic focal points for our expansion initiatives. This role is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to ensure the functioning, upkeep, preventive maintenance, and ad hoc maintenance of mechanical system (HVAC systems, chillers, dry coolers, pumps, cooling towers, etc.)
  • Ensures all repairs performed on all data center infrastructure are according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, best practices, and company SOP’s
  • Develops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacements
  • Completes all preventive and ad hoc maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly and monthly site checks
  • Work with the site Data Center Site Manager to create preventive maintenance plans and track and complete preventive and predicative maintenance schedules
  • Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages
  • Develops and maintains relevant standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Manages and coordinates vendors as needed
  • Utilizes ticketing and work order systems to successfully identify and resolve problems and maintenance items
  • Performs and documents root cause analysis on critical equipment
  • Ensures that sufficient spare parts are available on site for frequently used parts or parts with long lead times and maintains critical spares register
  • Monitors for and responds to BMS (Building Monitoring System) alarms in accordance with engineering policies and procedures, escalating to site management
  • Manages the work approval process for service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day, final review of the work carried out)
  • Ensures that all safety standards are followed, as well quality procedures related to maintenance, including all Incident Management

YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mechanical engineering degree or technical school with relevant certifications/licenses and a minimum of 7 years industry experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in design and/or operation of critical MEP infrastructure, including water-cooled and air-cooled air conditioning systems, critical data center mechanical distribution systems, and monitoring systems. Preference is for strong HVAC and high-density cooling background
  • Experience in the operations, maintenance, engineering, construction, and delivery of mission critical facilities is helpful
  • An excellent understanding and experience of the general facilities management and maintenance programs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with team members, customers and with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems
  • Computer literate and MS office and Teams knowledge is desirable
  • Strong and committed team player with excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Willingness to work outside of normal hours to resolve technical issues in a 24/7 industry
