Job Description General Motors' AV Infrastructure Site Engineering team is seeking an Data Center Operations Engineer to help us build, operate, and scale our data center and lab footprint. Data Center Operations Engineer at General Motors bring niche knowledge and experience not only in the traditional data center domain but developing industry leading data collection infrastructure as well as custom liquid cooling solutions for General Motors's AV development. What you'll be doing: Responsible for design and developing solutions to physical builds of General Motors' AV infrastructure. Ownership of any "on the ground' maintenance required of GM's infrastructure across multiple partner teams nationwide. Collaborating and scaling liquid cooled server fleet across GM's data centers. Support integration of Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) Systems through issue identification, triage, configuration & code debugging, and root cause analysis. Monitoring and responding to environmental alarms (power, cooling, and leak detection). Work with cross-functional teams to drive hardware and software changes by balancing short-term improvements and long term solutions to resolve issues. Issues are varied, including network configuration issues, to AV sensor connectivity issues, car module connectivity, etc. Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing parts in a timely manner. Participate in on-call rotation for mission critical services. General Motors' AV Infrastructure Site Engineering team is seeking an Data Center Operations Engineer to help us build, operate, and scale our data center and lab footprint.

Data Center Operations Engineer at General Motors bring niche knowledge and experience not only in the traditional data center domain but developing industry leading data collection infrastructure as well as custom liquid cooling solutions for General Motors's AV development.

What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for design and developing solutions to physical builds of General Motors' AV infrastructure.

  • Ownership of any "on the ground' maintenance required of GM's infrastructure across multiple partner teams nationwide.

  • Collaborating and scaling liquid cooled server fleet across GM's data centers.

  • Support integration of Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) Systems through issue identification, triage, configuration & code debugging, and root cause analysis.

  • Monitoring and responding to environmental alarms (power, cooling, and leak detection).

  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive hardware and software changes by balancing short-term improvements and long term solutions to resolve issues. Issues are varied, including network configuration issues, to AV sensor connectivity issues, car module connectivity, etc.

  • Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing parts in a timely manner.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for mission critical services.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or relevant work experience

  • Experience working in Data Center Operations for 4+ years or related field

  • CompTIA Server Plus, CompTIA Network+, or CCNA certification or Equivalent work experience

  • Considerable background in infrastructure build: structured cabling, MDF/IDF/MPOE buildout, as well as power and cooling

  • Understanding of electrical and cooling systems with respect to data center environment

  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and infrastructure

  • Experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment

  • Hands-on experience working with and debugging complex hardware systems

  • Outstanding ability to work as part of a team, provide support, and resolve errors

  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies
