Responsibilities: Executes the materials replenishment process based upon the requirements determined by the Commodity Inventory Manager and places purchase orders in a manner that is consistent with the goals and objectives established by the Corporate Purchasing Manager for his/her assigned area. The Corporate Buyer also will work with the Commodity Manager and Commodity Inventory Manager to review, develop, and advance the strategic initiative within the scope of the product line.
- Execute the purchasing process ensuring the lowest product acquisition costs based on inventory standards and company policy, such that it results in profitable market share growth and meets ROC objectives.
- Initiates inquiries with approved suppliers, negotiates and places orders with those who provide the most competitive offer for each need (price, delivery, product suitability, etc.)
- Ability to establish and cultivate strong vendor relationships in an effort to develop our market advantage.
- Utilizes inventory management system to assist in maintaining appropriate levels of inventory.
- Assists the accounting department on reconciling suppliers' invoices with debit memos, test reports, claims, etc.
- Engages with Inside Account Managers and Territory Managers on inquiries in their specific lines.
- Collaborate with Inventory Manager to achieve the targeted GMROI.
- Initiate process improvement and streamlining of daily work activities.
- Be a key participant in ongoing development of a "World Class Supply Chain"
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 2 years' experience in inventory management, purchasing, sales or a related field.
- Ability to read, write, and fluently speak the English Language. Ability to read and comprehend concepts of moderate to high difficulty and the ability to communicate responses and actions related to these concepts.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and particularly to be able to freely determine rations. The ability to generate graphic representations of data is required.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Programs.
- The ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables, and to recognize flaws in common arguments presented.
- Excellent organization, communication, both oral and written, time management, and presentation skills.
- Critical thinking skills; collaborative and results driven.
- Adaptable, Customer Focused and Teamwork oriented.
