Help Deliver World-Class Mission-Critical Infrastructure

The successful delivery of hyperscale data centers and mission-critical infrastructure requires strong leadership, detailed planning, disciplined execution, and effective communication. From project startup through closeout, Assistant Construction Project Managers play a critical role in supporting project teams, coordinating field activities, managing project documentation, and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer expectations.

At Michels Infrastructure Solutions (MIS), we deliver some of North America's largest and most complex mission-critical and hyperscale infrastructure projects. As the general contracting and EPC delivery arm of Michels, MIS leverages the self-perform capabilities of the Michels Family of Companies to execute every phase of construction, from site development and utilities through power infrastructure, commissioning, and project closeout.

Our teams support leading technology companies and developers by delivering the critical infrastructure required to power cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital connectivity. Known for tackling challenging scopes, aggressive schedules, and complex project environments, MIS combines the resources of a national EPC contractor with the accountability, agility, and hands-on leadership needed to successfully deliver world-class mission-critical facilities.

Position Overview

As an Assistant Construction Project Manager, you will assist in managing large-scale hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects or independently manage smaller project scopes under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. You will support all phases of project execution, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, project controls, customer communication, quality management, and field coordination.

This role serves as a key link between project management and field operations, helping ensure projects progress safely, efficiently, and in alignment with schedule, budget, and quality objectives. You will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders while developing the skills necessary to advance into senior project leadership roles.

Success requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, and the capacity to make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the successful execution of mission-critical and hyperscale infrastructure projects.
  • Review project proposals, contracts, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, and execution plans to develop a complete understanding of project requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities with field leadership to help ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Support project scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, procurement, and resource planning activities.
  • Assist with contract administration, customer communication, project documentation, and change management processes.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all project activities.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in managing project execution from project startup through final turnover and closeout.
  • Coordinate with field supervision, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, customers, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of project schedules, work plans, budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and project tracking tools.
  • Review project progress and assist with updating budgets, forecasts, schedules, and performance metrics.
  • Support contract administration activities, including pay applications, RFIs, CORs, change orders, notices, project correspondence, and closeout documentation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding assigned project responsibilities.
  • Participate in weekly project coordination meetings, status meetings, customer meetings, and operational planning sessions.
  • Assist project teams with procurement activities, subcontractor coordination, material management, and project controls processes.
  • Work collaboratively with estimating teams to develop historical performance data and support future project pursuits.
  • Support QA/QC activities, testing procedures, inspections, commissioning support, and project turnover requirements.
  • Help identify project risks, develop solutions, and support successful project outcomes.

Why Michels Infrastructure Solutions, Inc.?

  • We deliver some of North America's largest and most complex hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • We provide exposure to every phase of project delivery, from planning and procurement through commissioning and turnover.
  • We are family owned and operated.
  • We invest an average of $5,000 per employee per year in training and career development.
  • We perform challenging, meaningful work that supports cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital connectivity, and economic growth.
  • We believe everyone is responsible for promoting safety, regardless of job title.
  • We are part of the Michels Family of Companies, one of North America's largest and most diversified energy and infrastructure contractors.
  • We offer significant opportunities for career advancement into Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Operations leadership roles.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • PE certification is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel approximately 75% and support long-term onsite project assignments throughout North America as required. Travel may include extended durations based on project assignments and business needs.
