Summary of Responsibilities: Do you have a passion for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the electric transmission system? In this role, you will develop and lead a staff of NERC certified electric transmission grid operators whose responsibilities include real time monitoring and control, transmission switching and operational NERC compliance on a 24-hour basis. Essential Responsibilities: Use your associate's degree in either Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience and thorough knowledge of electric system operations and NERC reliability standards to provide leadership, supervision and work direction for normal and emergency activities of transmission operations Lead a 24-hour rotating shift staff of NERC Certified System Control Operators to ensure operational activity is done safely, reliably, and consistent with all procedures. Provide coaching and engagement on delivering operational excellence with a specific focus on safety, reliability, quality, consistency and individual growth and development of staff. Drive strong situational awareness of the operations staff at all times, including responding to and notification of system events, and supporting knowledge transfer and continuity between shift rotations. Champion strong safety and human performance behaviors consistent with ATC's Human Performance Program. Partner with ATC's Safety and Human Performance team to maintain high visibility to lessons learned from operating experiences and ATC's good catch program. Improve overall effectiveness and consistency of operations by recommending adjustments to existing policies, procedures and processes Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with customers, local distribution companies and regulatory agencies. Summary of Responsibilities:

In this role, you will develop and lead a staff of NERC certified electric transmission grid operators whose responsibilities include real time monitoring and control, transmission switching and operational NERC compliance on a 24-hour basis. Our real-time operations group is at the heart of what we do at ATC by operating the electric transmission system in a safe and reliable manner.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Use your associate's degree in either Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience and thorough knowledge of electric system operations and NERC reliability standards to provide leadership, supervision and work direction for normal and emergency activities of transmission operations
  • Lead a 24-hour rotating shift staff of NERC Certified System Control Operators to ensure operational activity is done safely, reliably, and consistent with all procedures.
  • Provide coaching and engagement on delivering operational excellence with a specific focus on safety, reliability, quality, consistency and individual growth and development of staff.
  • Drive strong situational awareness of the operations staff at all times, including responding to and notification of system events, and supporting knowledge transfer and continuity between shift rotations.
  • Champion strong safety and human performance behaviors consistent with ATC's Human Performance Program. Partner with ATC's Safety and Human Performance team to maintain high visibility to lessons learned from operating experiences and ATC's good catch program.
  • Improve overall effectiveness and consistency of operations by recommending adjustments to existing policies, procedures and processes
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with customers, local distribution companies and regulatory agencies.

Certification:

  • Must be certified as a NERC Reliability Operator; Balancing, Interchange and Transmission Operator; or Transmission Operator or be able to obtain certification within 12 months of employment. The NERC certification must be maintained as a condition of employment at ATC.
  • Must be trained or able to be trained to perform all reliability related job tasks identified as being performed by the ATC System Control Operators.
