Training & Mentorship : Assist in training and developing lower-level employees on maintenance, repair duties, and safety protocols. Customer Service : Provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally. Summary/Objective

The Superintendent will coordinate and lead a crew of 10-15 individuals to ensure high-quality production while maintaining a safe work environment. The role will also involve assisting the division manager in planning and executing project strategies, ensuring adherence to budgets, and overcoming any challenges that may arise, such as weather or schedule changes. This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations, supervising personnel, and ensuring project goals are met on time and within budget.

Essential Functions

  • Crew Coordination & Supervision: Direct supervision of a crew of 10-15 people, ensuring work is performed efficiently and to the highest standard.
  • Budget Adherence: Assist the division manager with planning and ensuring that projects are completed within budget, adjusting strategies when necessary.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by conducting regular safety meetings, ensuring proper use of PPE, and enforcing adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Materials Management: Responsible for measuring and ordering quantities for supplies and materials, ensuring that the right materials are available for each project phase.
  • Compaction & Rolling Patterns: Understand and implement proper compaction and rolling patterns to ensure the smoothness and ride-ability of the project.
  • Project Documentation & Planning: Read and interpret project plans, ensuring all work aligns with specifications and client expectations.
  • Equipment & Maintenance: Oversee equipment and truck maintenance, ensuring drivers perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in training and developing lower-level employees on maintenance, repair duties, and safety protocols.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Technology Usage: Utilize a company-issued work truck, tablet, phone, and other necessary tools to manage day-to-day responsibilities and communication.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at construction job sites, and the noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary based on job size and job locations. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand.

Requirements

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Paving Superintendent.
  • Strong understanding of compaction techniques, rolling patterns, and ride-ability standards.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and project specifications.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • A valid state driver’s license with a Medical DOT card and no active violations within the previous three years.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test at all times.
