Job Description:

As a Senior Roadway Design Engineer at Parsons, you will lead and manage the design and development of roadway projects, ensuring they meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards. You will work on a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, highways, and interstate systems. In this role you will complete a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying transportation engineering techniques and analyses within roadway and geometric design on a variety of exciting and complex projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the design and development of roadway projects, including concept, preliminary and final design, alignment, grading, and pavement design.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and address any issues that arise.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
  • Minimum of 8+ years of related work experience in roadway design engineering, including project management.
  • Solid roadway geometric design background with proficiency in roadway design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, Open Roads).
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT design standards and guidelines.
  • Intermediate skills with Excel (macros, equations)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
