Program background The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country - a comprehensive set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and, in its later stages, create new capacity between Newark, New Jersey and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The first phase of the Gateway Program includes the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), which includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as the full rehabilitation of the existing 110-year-old North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC), established through bi-state legislation, is responsible for the financing and development of the Hudson Tunnel Project. As a tri-venture partner with Parsons, Arcadis, and Mace (MPA) is the Delivery Partners (DP)to provide advice, leadership, and support to GDC for the development and implementation of HTP. This is a master service with task order contracts for a 15-year contract encompassing a broad range of strategic advisory services, project management, design management, construction management, stakeholder coordination, federal compliance, operations support, office administration, and related services. What You'll Be Doing: Perform daily site inspections of excavation and shaft activities to ensure work is conducted, according to project specifications, safety standards, and engineering plans. Verify that excavation practices align with design requirements for tunneling and large shafts. Verify work in accordance with specs and drawings. Coordinate independent testing. Coordinate contractor, subs and stakeholder field operations. Enforce safety standards on-site, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory safety protocols. Identify potential safety hazards, report violations, and ensure contractors follow site-specific safety plans, especially around large shafts and excavation zones. Inspect materials and equipment used for excavation and tunneling, checking for compliance with quality standards. Document and report any deviations or deficiencies, working closely with contractors to address issues promptly to ensure quality throughout the project. Maintain detailed records of daily work activities, site conditions, and inspection results. Provide regular reports on progress, any issues encountered, and corrective actions taken, ensuring documentation aligns with project requirements. Work closely with construction supervisors and engineers to address any concerns that arise during inspection. Communicate inspection findings and collaborate on solutions to on-site issues, such as unexpected ground conditions or equipment adjustments. Program background

The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country - a comprehensive set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and, in its later stages, create new capacity between Newark, New Jersey and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The first phase of the Gateway Program includes the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), which includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as the full rehabilitation of the existing 110-year-old North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC), established through bi-state legislation, is responsible for the financing and development of the Hudson Tunnel Project.

As a tri-venture partner with Parsons, Arcadis, and Mace (MPA) is the Delivery Partners (DP)to provide advice, leadership, and support to GDC for the development and implementation of HTP. This is a master service with task order contracts for a 15-year contract encompassing a broad range of strategic advisory services, project management, design management, construction management, stakeholder coordination, federal compliance, operations support, office administration, and related services.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform daily site inspections of excavation and shaft activities to ensure work is conducted, according to project specifications, safety standards, and engineering plans.

  • Verify that excavation practices align with design requirements for tunneling and large shafts.

  • Verify work in accordance with specs and drawings.

  • Coordinate independent testing.

  • Coordinate contractor, subs and stakeholder field operations.

  • Enforce safety standards on-site, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory safety protocols.

  • Identify potential safety hazards, report violations, and ensure contractors follow site-specific safety plans, especially around large shafts and excavation zones.

  • Inspect materials and equipment used for excavation and tunneling, checking for compliance with quality standards.

Salary Range: $48.51 - $84.90
