The Ideal Commercial Construction Lead Superintendent: Must be experienced in the following - ATTENTION TO DETAIL! Project Scheduling – maintain weekly updates. MS Projects experience a plus. OSHA Trained/Certified – 30 Hour (preferred) Safety enforcement along with conducting weekly onsite toolbox meetings Utilize Procore to complete daily reports, monitor conversations and take daily pictures Coordinate inspections Generate and complete punch lists Subcontractor Change Order verification and validate labor/material projections Clear and assertive communication in the field is critical and can include direct conversations with Owners and Architects (and other consultants). Must be a problem solver with a proactive mentality – this is not just a skill, but a reflection of one’s desire to fully understand and embrace a challenge till a solution is developed Maintain ethical business practices in every aspect of your daily actions Experience in dealing with representatives of various city building & development departments… Ability to interpret blueprints and coordinate between architectural & structural & MEP designs to ensure they flow together and match Contact and schedule subcontractors – ability must be second nature to motivate job-related subcontractors/suppliers to meet the intent of specific plans & specifications Overall knowledge/understanding of horizontal and vertical construction to include but not be limited to; Cut and Fill sites, Utilities, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing applications. Dependable form of transportation Available and willing to voluntarily work after hours. Some projects require more than others, but at critical points can demand extra time commitments Organize and conduct weekly onsite subcontractor meetings to discuss safety practices, current events, schedule, quality control, etc. Work with office staff and respond in a timely manner, including but not limited to emails Be available, punctual, and accountable for meetings, requests from staff, etc. Important: There are some important things to consider. Preparing internal and client-facing reports that track project progress, schedules, and costs for Project Managers and clients. Ensuring all changes to specifications, work scope, and drawings are properly documented. Identifying, managing, and mitigating project risks to keep work on track. Inspecting and documenting construction progress of streets, earthwork, and utilities to ensure compliance with contracts, specifications, and building codes. Promoting a safety-first work environment and clearly communicating safety protocols. Coordinating and reviewing work with contractors, subcontractors, field staking teams, and inspectors to ensure smooth project execution. Reviewing contractor billing and verifying the accuracy of billed quantities. Managing construction project closeout, including all documentation, bond estimates, contractor completion lists, and ensuring timely project completion. Overseeing warranty release processes to guarantee client satisfaction after completion. Who You Are A minimum of 4+ years’ proven experience in the construction and civil engineering industries. Strong understanding of construction methods and technologies, including the ability to interpret contracts, technical drawings, and specifications. Comfortable navigating active construction sites in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain. Demonstrated ability to make swift, strategic decisions under pressure while managing multiple priorities to keep projects moving forward. Proactive planner with a deep understanding of the entire construction project lifecycle. Strong leadership skills that inspire and guide teams effectively. Verification of all layouts and/or checking of layout by subcontractors and the establishment of initial control lines and grades. Respond with clarity to subcontractors with respect to questions regarding the project documents and their work. Provide documentation and coordinate with Construction Manager as appropriate. Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates. Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site. Ensure that the subcontractors are maintaining record drawings (“red line as builts”) during construction. Responsible for the organization, establishment, and maintenance of the on-site field office to project a professional image (organized, clean, signage, etc.) The timely communication with the Construction Manager on matters regarding financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor issues, material problems, quality, code issues, etc. Interface and work harmoniously with respective Project Managers and other personnel. Manage, oversee, provide training, and act as a mentor to other Superintendent levels. Work in harmony with other Superintendents that may be assigned as part of a team on larger projects. Continue education in areas including OSHA and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, new technology, etc. Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification. Maintain a current working knowledge of the permit process in those communities where performing work and communicate information on changes to the office. The Ideal Commercial Construction Lead Superintendent:

Must be experienced in the following -

  • ATTENTION TO DETAIL!
  • Project Scheduling – maintain weekly updates. MS Projects experience a plus. 
  • OSHA Trained/Certified – 30 Hour (preferred)
  • Safety enforcement along with conducting weekly onsite toolbox meetings
  • Utilize Procore to complete daily reports, monitor conversations and take daily pictures
  • Coordinate inspections
  • Generate and complete punch lists
  • Subcontractor Change Order verification and validate labor/material projections
  • Clear and assertive communication in the field is critical and can include direct conversations with Owners and Architects (and other consultants).
  • Must be a problem solver with a proactive mentality – this is not just a skill, but a reflection of one’s desire to fully understand and embrace a challenge till a solution is developed
  • Maintain ethical business practices in every aspect of your daily actions
  • Experience in dealing with representatives of various city building & development departments…
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and coordinate between architectural & structural & MEP designs to ensure they flow together and match
  • Contact and schedule subcontractors – ability must be second nature to motivate job-related subcontractors/suppliers to meet the intent of specific plans & specifications
  • Overall knowledge/understanding of horizontal and vertical construction to include but not be limited to; Cut and Fill sites, Utilities, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing applications.
  • Dependable form of transportation
  • Available and willing to voluntarily work after hours. Some projects require more than others, but at critical points can demand extra time commitments
  • Organize and conduct weekly onsite subcontractor meetings to discuss safety practices, current events, schedule, quality control, etc.
  • Work with office staff and respond in a timely manner, including but not limited to emails
  • Be available, punctual, and accountable for meetings, requests from staff, etc.
