May oversee field operations, commercial projects, semi-custom programs, and/or customer service functions. CMS Mechanical is looking for a Skilled Laborer

CMS Mechanical self-performs work in both the commercial and industrial sectors, including scopes of work related to the provision, installation, and service of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, process piping/systems, and energy systems. This includes electrical generation and co-generation systems, along with all related components required to deliver fully functional systems to our customers.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards; ensure proper use of tools and equipment
  • Cut steel using flame torch
  • Bevel, grind, and prepare materials for welding
  • Load, unload, and identify materials, machinery, and tools; distribute to appropriate locations per project plans or Superintendent direction
  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools
  • Measure pipe and cut to size
  • Apply caulking, cleaning solutions, or other compounds by hand or with tools
  • Prepare forms for concrete pouring and dismantle after use using various tools
  • Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth to grade specifications using manual tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years of previous mechanical construction experience, including HVAC ductwork, electrical controls, and threaded pipe installation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate work with team members
  • Strong organizational skills for managing time and resources efficiently
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to use various hand and power tools
  • Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of a Superintendent or Skilled Tradesman

Working Conditions

  • Physical effort required for frequent lifting or moving of heavy materials
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and walk a project site
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach
  • Ability to work in confined space
  • Work is performed in outdoor weather conditions on job sites
  • Must be able to travel for extended periods to support projects
