Laborers provide support for the form carpenters and for the concrete operation in general, ironworkers/rodbusters involved in installing reinforcing steel, and masons involved in the installation of block and brickwork. This is a safety sensitive position. Position Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License. Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program. Must be able to take initiative. Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions. Workers must provide their own safety footwear. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders. Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills. Must be reliable and punctual. Preferred Qualifications Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading. OSHA 10 Certification. CPR & First Aid Certification. Essential Duties: Preparation of areas for the placement of concrete involves final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs. This work involves shoveling for extended periods of time. Assembly of concrete forms, laborers are required to lift form prefabricated metal form panels and assist in their placement. Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane that transfers the concrete from the concrete truck to the placement area. After the concrete is poured from the bucket, laborers muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly. After the concrete has cured, the laborers assist in stripping the concrete forms and transporting them for storage. Assist concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface. Support of block masons installing masonry work by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout. This includes stocking blocks and bricks. Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames. This entails transporting the door frames from the storage area to the work areas and stacking the door frames where needed. Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools. Distributes site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards. This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored. Physical Work Classification & Demands: Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity. Walking- The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite. Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office and field administration. Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read and understand blueprints, load charts, and take/verify field measurements. Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights. Working from heights - the person must be comfortable and able to work from heights for extended amounts of time. Balancing- Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch. Stooping- Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist. Reaching- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time. Grasping- Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly. Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate. Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures. Frequently exposed to noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Use of hands and wrists with various tools. Prolonged use of jackhammer and pavement breaker. Use of wheelbarrows and brooms. Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers. Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds. The person must be able to safely wear a respirator and is able to pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations. Essential Duties Perform work requiring little skill or previous training in connection with rough, heavy labor, such as moving, lifting and piling materials, and loading and unloading cars, trucks, etc. Dig ditches, holes, etc. as required. Clean materials from areas around crushers, conveyors, elevators, loading stations, etc. using broom, shovel and wheelbarrow, or vacuum equipment as directed. Perform other duties as required and assigned. Clean vibrating screens with brush or a paddle. Clean all process equipment such as mixers, aerators, as required for color changes. Rap out equipment to dislodge material sticking to sides of kilns and other equipment with a sledge hammer. Lubricate equipment as required, make minor repairs and adjustments and assist in major repairs. Adjust material flow throughout the process and check and maintain proper level of material in the hoppers. Operate various mobile equipment which may include a Waldon 4500 loader, Bobcat Skid, steer Loader or Bobcat Walk behind loaders to remove discarded material to assigned storage area. Operate a dump truck which includes loading, hauling and dumping material. Activity consists of operating levers with the hands, foot pedals, and remaining seated for up to 2 hours. The operator also checks the equipment for defects and does normal greasing/lubrication of the equipment. A Maintenance Laborers' responsibilities are to perform various maintenance related clean up tasks mostly around the maintenance shop & to be available for other departments as an immediate fill in replacement. This includes general clean up throughout the maintenance shop area that includes sweeping with a push broom, shoveling swept up material, and other clean up related duties mostly in the shop area. A Coloring Plant Laborer's responsibilities are to assist the coloring plant in the processing of coloring granules for finished product that is conveyed to the Load house. This includes possible job assignment of any of the coloring plant jobs that include: Coloring Utility, Mixer person, Pre-Oiler, Chief Operator, Kiln person, and Batch person. General Clean up throughout the coloring plant that includes sweeping with a push broom, shoveling, painting, operating vacuum system and other clean up related duties. All duties require the use of PPE that include: hard hats, safety glasses, steel toed shoes at all times and hearing protection and respirator when required by job classification or work area. Inspect equipment and work area for hazards and document inspection. Assist other employees as needed or directed. Make minor repairs and adjustments and assist in major repairs Maintain proper housekeeping in the plant by using water hoses, shovels, vacuum equipment or self propelled equipment as directed by supervision. Record production information and communicate to supervisor. Knowledge of proper disposition of unsuitable materials. Knowledge of quality control standards. Qualifications Required Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. This is normally acquired through one to two years of experience. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and walk extensively throughout the plant. Ability to wear respiratory protection. Position Description:

Laborers have general responsibility to provide support and assistance to the other skilled crafts working on the project. Laborers provide support for the form carpenters and for the concrete operation in general, ironworkers/rodbusters involved in installing reinforcing steel, and masons involved in the installation of block and brickwork. This is a safety sensitive position.

Position Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
  • Must be able to take initiative.
  • Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
  • Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.

Essential Duties:

  • Preparation of areas for the placement of concrete involves final excavation of dirt and rock and fine grading for floor slabs. This work involves shoveling for extended periods of time.
  • Assembly of concrete forms, laborers are required to lift form prefabricated metal form panels and assist in their placement.
  • Handle the concrete bucket suspended from a crane that transfers the concrete from the concrete truck to the placement area. After the concrete is poured from the bucket, laborers muck the concrete in slabs to spread it evenly.
  • After the concrete has cured, the laborers assist in stripping the concrete forms and transporting them for storage.
  • Assist concrete finishers in moving power trowels and power screeds used to finish the concrete surface.
  • Support of block masons installing masonry work by handling and transporting bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout. This includes stocking blocks and bricks.
  • Assist carpenters in handling and setting door frames. This entails transporting the door frames from the storage area to the work areas and stacking the door frames where needed.
  • Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools. Distributes site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards. This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored.

Physical Work Classification & Demands:

  • Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity.
  • Walking- The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite.
  • Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office and field administration.
  • Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read and understand blueprints, load charts, and take/verify field measurements.
  • Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.
  • Working from heights - the person must be comfortable and able to work from heights for extended amounts of time.
  • Balancing- Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
  • Stooping- Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
  • Reaching- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time.
  • Grasping- Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly.
  • Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
  • Frequently exposed to noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  • Use of hands and wrists with various tools.
  • Prolonged use of jackhammer and pavement breaker.
  • Use of wheelbarrows and brooms.
  • Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers.
  • Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds.
  • The person must be able to safely wear a respirator and is able to pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations.
  • Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment
