Operates electronic safety and communications systems including portable gas monitors, hand-held radios, and other related equipment. Rigs-up and uses a wide range of safety equipment including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards. Trained, authorized, and certified to work both onshore and offshore exploration and production.      Skills and Experience:     Knowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc. Must have knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Coast Guard and ABS regulations if offshore. Proficiency in the care and use of all sites specific, facility and customer required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).  Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess safe driving record and be insurable for Total Safety vehicle insurance while driving company truck. Forklift experience is considered a plus. Must pass internal forklift certification as required. Must be willing to travel to customer’s site and available for travel for short and long-term out-of-town and/or offshore projects. Must be able to obtain TWIC card and pass any required safety testing to include classes such as Basic Plus, OSHA 10 hour, etc. Must have State Fire Licenses (if required by State) or pass NICET Level II testing (if State Licensing not required) in THREE disciplines of fire protection or have NICET 3 in TWO fire protection disciplines for appropriate areas of service prior to performing work within those areas. Working Environment:     Shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments. May be frequently exposed to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in customer environment. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic. About the unit The Prince Surgical Critical Care Unit is a 22 bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. The trauma population includes geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma requiring critical care needs, and the critical care adult burn population. The surgical population includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, and vascular surgery with critical care needs. Staff in the surgical ICU also provide care to medical and neuro critically ill patients. Scope of work Because this unit cares for complex trauma patients after surgery and helps with overflow of Heart and Lung (CTICU) and helps support the Neuro ICU team they share a floor with, the work is both challenging and fulfilling. We generally have 2 Nurse Techs working on this team at night. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. Job Description/Summary: The Emergency Department Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager. Minimum Training and Education

High School diploma or GED required. Preferred experience working as a Patient Care Tech, nursing assistant, or nursing student enrolled in an accredited institution with the completion of one Adult Medical/Surgical course with hands on clinical experience.  Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience in a health care environment or certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Within six months of hire date, must successfully pass the on-line course modules, phlebotomy training and skills validation for basic and advanced skills, and EKG training.  Passing requires achieving an 80% passing rate on each test in two attempts or will result in separation from employment. Successful completion of the Emergency Department Technician unit specific training and competency demonstration is required within the first six months of employment or will result in separation of employment.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education

High School diploma or GED required. Preferred experience working as a Patient Care Tech, nursing assistant, or nursing student enrolled in an accredited institution with the completion of one Adult Medical/Surgical course with hands on clinical experience.  Minimum of 1 year of patient care experience in a health care environment or certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
