Responsibilities 

 Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Mental Health/Behavioral Health Techs will provide direct bedside care to patients: 

  • Assists the RN in delivering care, observing patient behaviors, and more. 
  • Reports/documents any changes in patients mood or behavior in a timely fashion. 
  • Provides one-on-one sessions with assigned patients as needed. 

Mental Health Technicians will maintain a full patient caseload with an assigned primary nurse in an inpatient setting and provide care for all patients effectively and compassionately. 

Qualifications 

To qualify as a Mental Health Tech, you must meet the following requirements for consideration: 

  • For Philadelphia County Jefferson campuses - Completion of a supervised mental health or addiction practicum and completion of 12 college credits in the social sciences + 2 years of experience in mental health or addictions care required.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in humanities or social services + 1 year of experience in mental health or addictions care.
  • BLS required based on organizational guidelines/polices. Behavioral management training in accordance with campus policy.
