JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 WORK SHIFT: ( Monday-Friday) 0630-1500 Rotating late assignments, no call, no weekends, no holidays. JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist/LPN performs procedures, within their scope of practice, which render the safest and most effective service to the patient and surgeon. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the needs of the surgical team, proficiently handling and passing instruments, sutures, sponges and all other necessary sterile equipment as required. MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology with one (1) year Operating Room experience preferred. Surgical Technology certification preferred Good communication and decision-making skills . LPNs must have 1 year of surgical technology experience, acute care setting preferred. Current Louisiana LPN license (if applicable) Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
