The Manual Bending Cell Operator sets up, operates, and monitors the automated cell to produce conduit elbows. The Unison Bending Cell consists of an infeed conveyor, bender, robotic arms, labeling equipment, box erector, as well as a box closing machine. An overhead hoist is used to aid in changing over tooling and dies for the various conduit elbows produced. Carts and trolleys are used at the infeed conveyor. Operators will manually label, scan and stack all finished boxes of conduit elbows on skids. The operator is responsible for ensuring products meet regulatory and quality requirements by performing scheduled checks using gages such as calipers, a tape measure, ring gages, and fixtures for verifying the degree of bend. The operator is also responsible for maintaining constant visual inspections to identify material defects, ensure product quality as well as to verify the correct labeling is being applied. The operator is also responsible for various changeovers as production scheduling warrants using general hand tools such as wrenches, rachets, sockets, hammers, screw drivers, etc. Along with operating and maintaining the Unison Bending Cell, the operator will always have the responsibility ofkeeping their work area clean. The operator must maintain quality in accordance with specifications. The operator must troubleshoot and make some repairs and adjustments to the machines. This also includes maintaining the proper level of all lubricants using site gages and visual inspection. All operators are responsible for keeping accurate production records. SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY: Sets machines to produce parts that meet regulatory and quality requirements. The cell produces specific materials, diameters, and degrees of bend for conduit elbows based on the written schedule posted at the machine. Must be able to reach above shoulder level to operate crane. Continuously inspects the conduit elbows visually for any defects as well as to verify the product Troubleshoots, repairs, and/or adjusts the machines using general hand tools. Must be able to twist, turn, pound, pull, and push up to 100lbs. Changes tooling as necessary with hand tools safely and efficiently. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Complete and maintain paperwork. Accurate reporting of all production and quality data as required by management. Required overtime to cover vacations and call offs. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, playing a crucial role in keeping operations running smoothly. Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with local legal regulations and Clariant safety and environmental policies.
  • Participate in risk analysis and implement action items to enhance plant safety.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to optimize equipment reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment, ensuring all assets meet quality standards.
  • Support technical plant documentation and ensure compliance with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Attend daily performance meetings and collaborate with production operators to drive efficiency.
  • Ensure all job-related qualifications and safety training are up to date.
  • Execute maintenance tasks efficiently, maintaining a balance between time, quality, and cost.
  • Complete SAMACO-related work orders, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) tasks

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience in the Chemical or Food Manufacturing industry is preferred
  • Ability to work any shift, including rotating schedules and weekends as needed
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively in a high-demand environment
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting where skilled maintenance work is at a premium
