The Impact You'll Make in this Role

As a Finance Director- Strategic Sourcing, Enterprise Supply Chain, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Provide financial leadership in establishing and reporting on procurement net savings for direct materials, 3rd party manufacturing, indirect, capital, and energy addressable spend base of $10-12B for 3M Company through the Strategic Plan, Operating Plan, MRE, and month end reporting to executive leadership
  • Interact with extended Enterprise Supply Chain Functions, Business Groups, Division, Plants to cascade procurement net savings targets and communicate/explain results
  • Ensure governance and standardization of procurement net savings calculation methodology and validation of YOY net savings
  • Drive continuous improvement in understanding of procurement YOY net savings tracing to the financial statements as to where and when savings are realized
  • Develop understanding and expertise of global markets and indexes relevant to procurement spend and the impact to 3M Company
  • Develop plan for Global Procurement organization operating expense and headcount to ensure spend is within budget and drive spend productivity
  • Provide guidance and expertise in accounting for supplier rebates, credits, 3rd party manufacturing requirements, etc
  • Ensure financial ethics and compliance in procurement operations
  • Lead and develop a team of finance professionals supporting Global Procurement

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Fifteen (15) years of finance and/or accounting experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience in leading and working with cross-functional team with strong ability to influence
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in process improvement and implementing best practices within a finance function
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week)
