Overview
Job Description
- Design and Development: Create and refine Mil-Spec power supplies, ensuring they meet stringent performance and test criteria.*
- Legacy Product Support: Analyze and troubleshoot older designs, interpret complex and sometimes incomplete documentation, and find creative solutions to keep products operational.*
- Technical Expertise: Serve as the primary point of contact for solving tough engineering challenges; provide guidance and technical support across various engineering teams.*
- Schematic Creation: Design electrical schematics using CAD software, ensuring all designs are accurate and meet project requirements.*
- Lab Work: Conduct hands-on testing, including soldering, using an oscilloscope, multimeter, and other lab tools to debug and validate designs.*
- Customer and Supplier Communication: Participate in teleconferences with customers and suppliers to discuss design updates, test results, and resolve issues.*
- Documentation and Reporting: Write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports. Review and edit reports submitted by colleagues to ensure quality and consistency.*
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with other engineers, project managers, and quality teams to ensure successful project execution.*
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in tight spaces, ascend and descend flights of stairs, and perform physical tasks related to testing and troubleshooting hardware.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.*
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power supplies, military specifications, or related fields.*
- Technical Skills:*
- Proficient in CAD software and schematic design tools.*
- Extensive hands-on experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting (oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering, etc.).*
- Strong understanding of Mil-Spec standards and performance testing criteria.*
- Ability to work with legacy documentation and reverse-engineer designs when necessary.*
- Familiarity with power supply design, including design, validation, and failure analysis.
- Communication Skills:*
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.*
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and collaborate effectively with teams and customers.*
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, often with limited documentation or resources. Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in a lab setting with hands-on electrical testing and soldering.*
- Must be able to move around tight spaces and walk up and down stairs.*
