ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, PATIENT EDUCATION MANAGER - CALIFORNIA (CA, NV, and HI) SUMMARY: The Patient Education Manager (PEM) is a field-based role that operates as part of the Patient Services and Support organization. The PEM role is a critical component of the patient services team. The PEM is responsible for using approved material on disease state, product education and patient service capabilities with patients and caregivers. Job Summary Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior. The Clinical Pastoral Education Residency Program (CPE) is a (commitment to) twelve months advanced training in pastoral care and counseling using the clinical method of education. The distribution of effort is approximately 3 hours of clinic experience to 1 hour of seminar time. One year of residency has 4 units of CPE. Tuition is $500.00 per unit, made payable to Frederick Health. The expectations of the program are outlined in the Chaplain Resident job description, objectives of CPE and Agreement for Training. Resident chaplains' status are full-time students (40 hrs. a week), not employees, though they receive a stipend and some benefits from FHH. Resident chaplains receive oversight from and report directly to the director of Clinical Pastoral Education. The CPE Residency Program is educational in nature and does not constitute an agreement for employment at Frederick Health Hospital, during or following completion of the program. Clinical Pastoral Education: In addition to the educational requirements listed in above, successful applicants must have (or about to complete within 12 months) 4-units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), as defined by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), the national Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), or the American Psychotherapy Association (APA). 800-hours of supervised ministry in a formal training program which incorporated both ministry formation and pastoral care skills development may be substituted for 2-units of the required CPE. Ecclesiastical Endorsement: All successful applicants must possess or be able to acquire (within 90-days of hire) ecclesiastical endorsement, dated within the previous 12-months, from the authorized national endorsing official of his/her faith group or denomination. About the Career and Technology Education (CTE) Studies Office: The Career and Technology Education (CTE) studies office offers the following six programs approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission: Bachelor's of Science degree in Technology and Engineering Teacher Preparation Master's of Education degree in CTE Upper Division (Undergraduate) Certificate in CTE Upper Division (Undergraduate) Certificate in Work-Based Learning and Career Counseling Post-Baccalaureate (Graduate) Certificate in CTE Post-Baccalaureate (Graduate) Certificate in Work-Based Learning and Career Counseling These programs assist approximately 180 educators annually with obtaining their state teaching licensure or endorsement in a CTE area. The CTE studies programs are housed within The Department of the Built Environment and the School of Business, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Technology and Tourism Management (BEAST-TM). About the University Enrolling over 2,200 students, The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is a land grant, historically black college founded in 1886 as the Delaware Conference Academy. Since its beginning, the institution has had several name changes and governing bodies. It was Maryland State College from 1948 until 1970, when it became one of the five campuses that formed the University of Maryland. In 1988, it became a member of the then eleven campus (now thirteen) University of Maryland System, now known as the University System of Maryland. UMES is approved by the state of Maryland and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The main campus is located approximately 15 miles south of Salisbury, Maryland. Responsibilities Work with prospective and current on-site, off-site, and distance education students in the CTE programs housed at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This position will help students navigate various UMES processes such as applying to a program, adding/dropping/withdrawing from courses, applying for graduation, and other related academic processes. Assist students with questions about Maryland teaching licensure and endorsements in collaboration with local school system licensure personnel and the Maryland State Department of Education. Assist students with transferring courses into UMES and developing a plan of study. Maintain student records and assist the program Director with ensuring students are on track for graduation. Assist the program Director with collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing reports related to student applications, enrollment, and graduation. Provide ongoing support and program guidance for in-person and distance learning students and adjunct faculty. Assist faculty with Learning Management System (LMS) issues (ex. uploading course templates each semester, uploading syllabi, posting announcements, etc.) Work closely with university offices such as the Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, etc. to troubleshoot student issues that arise. Assist the program Director with developing and updating Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) documents between the University and local school systems. Collaborate with faculty to develop and periodically update program tutorials and direction sheets. Collaborate with faculty to develop and update program recruitment materials. The Outdoor Education Instructor is responsible for assisting the Program Director in providing and facilitating the overall Outdoor Environmental Education and Group Services programming. The Group Services Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that program participants have a safe, supportive, interactive, and enriching program experience while ensuring safety and security of all program participants. The Outdoor Education staff will facilitate program areas and teach outdoor education classes to school groups, girl/boy scouts, church groups, and many other different customers. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, PATIENT EDUCATION MANAGER - CALIFORNIA (CA, NV, and HI)

SUMMARY:

The Patient Education Manager (PEM) is a field-based role that operates as part of the Patient Services and Support organization. The PEM role is a critical component of the patient services team. The PEM is responsible for using approved material on disease state, product education and patient service capabilities with patients and caregivers.

Domestic travel required including phone-based and virtual meetings. To succeed, the candidate will have a sustained reputation for putting the patient first and a values-driven work style where integrity and service drive all behaviors, decisions, and actions.

The PEM role is also responsible for engaging with Advocacy groups.

PRODUCT:

DAWNZERA is a prekallikrein-directed antisense oligonucleotide indicated for prophylaxis to prevent attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adult and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This team will support our patients in the following areas:

  • Deliver disease state and product education regarding Ionis brand(s) and their approved indication(s) using approved training/education materials to support and empower patients/caregivers as they navigate the treatment journey
  • Educate account nurses and office staff, when requested, on the role and service model of the Patient Education Manager to support patients (coordinated with other field-based representatives)
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong public speaking skills, with experience hosting patient-facing programs and delivering clear, confident presentations during internal meetings and calls.
  • Strong reimbursement and market access knowledge and the ability to educate and support patients throughout their treatment journey is preferred.
  • Serve as a liaison to access teams and partners to address patient specific needs

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and cross-collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • At least 12 years of related experience, including supporting patients within Rare Disease
  • At least 2+ years field-based experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targeted objectives
  • Knowledge of insurance and payor landscape and US reimbursement process
