Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot aerosol systems, including calibration, validation, and certification (8-12 systems per year). Perform and supervise biological decontamination procedures for Class III biosafety cabinets (75-120 decontaminations per year). Certify and maintain Class III biosafety cabinets (12-15 cabinets and transporters per year). Coordinate and collaborate with AAT leadership to develop and continue the AAT technical training program, and assist in training other technical staff. Enter research data into appropriate formats, develop charts and graphs, and assist in preparing manuscripts or posters for scientific conferences. Complete annual GLP training and maintain records according to regulations and USAMRIID SOPs. Complete required training as assigned and maintain training records. Report observations of safety or SOP non-compliance promptly. Cross-train and assist with laboratory technician support, including bacterial and viral assays, sample processing, animal clinical pathology support, and telemetry operations. Perform weekly/monthly details of BSL-3 and BSL-2 change rooms, showers, and assigned containment areas, ensuring compliance with regulations and SOPs. Notify AAT Leadership if restricted from containment and provide anticipated length of restriction for scheduling purposes. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. What Required Skills You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree in Biomechanical, Bioelectrical, or Biochemical Engineering and 5 years of relevant aerosol experience. Working knowledge of aerosol generating platforms and ancillary equipment, including aerodynamic particle sizers, aerosol nebulizers, aerosol collection devices, and various plenums. Ability to work in high containment laboratory environments (BSL-3/BSL-4). Familiarity with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee guidelines. Experience writing SOPs.
