Join William Blair, the Premier Global Partnership.

The Lead Technology Project Manager – AI supports the delivery of firmwide AI initiatives by taking an active role in the review, onboarding, and oversight of the AI tools used at William Blair. The role partners closely with engineering, data, infrastructure, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions are aligned with workflows, priorities, and firm standards for risk, security, and responsible use. This position focuses on analysis, coordination, and execution support across AI platforms and vendor implementations.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Support evaluation and implementation of AI platforms and vendors by documenting functional and non‑functional requirements, integration needs, and data considerations.
  • Ensure AI initiatives align with firm standards for risk management, security, compliance, and responsible use.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to clarify AI use cases, scope, goals, success criteria, and workflow alignment.
  • Translate AI strategy and use cases into actionable requirements, business use cases, and delivery tasks.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to establish approval requirements and maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Create and maintain lightweight delivery artifacts (requirements documents, project plans, and status updates) for internal and vendor‑led AI implementations.
  • Track assigned AI workstreams, identify risks, issues, and dependencies, and escalate appropriately to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with Data Science, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and vendor teams to validate data sources, data quality requirements, and environment readiness.
  • Support testing, validation, and user acceptance activities, including test case development, UAT coordination, and defect tracking.
  • Assist with change management and adoption efforts, including development of training materials, user guides, FAQs, and demos to promote responsible AI usage.
  • Maintain awareness of AI technology trends, risks, and controls, and communicate insights clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related subject matter required
  • 6 - 8 years of experience with systems required
  • Experience translating business and AI use cases into clear functional and non‑functional requirements.
  • Understanding risk management, security, and compliance considerations in technology and AI implementations.
  • Understanding of financial or other regulation and impact of regulation on technology
  • Familiarity with AI concepts, platforms, and emerging trends, with the ability to communicate risks and considerations effectively.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams including engineering, data science, infrastructure, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency with standard delivery and work‑tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Experience supporting testing, validation, and user acceptance activities, including defect tracking and documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
