Job Description

Business Technology Integrators (BTI), with over 25 years of experience delivering innovative IT and facility support solutions to the Federal Government, is seeking an Information Desk Specialist to support the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY.

The Information Desk Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for veterans, visitors, employees, and others entering or within the facility. The individual will provide accurate information, directions, and assistance in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities at the Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and directions to veterans, visitors, employees, and others at the facility in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner.

  • Maintain coverage at the Information Desk during scheduled hours:

    • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

    • Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Report all troubles related to the switchboard and/or telephone trunks/lines associated with telephone or paging communications to the VA Police.

  • Accept and document equipment problem reports from Medical Center staff for referral to the VA Police for repair and action.

  • Stay thoroughly familiar with the facility layout, department locations, and operations to provide accurate guidance to visitors.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy while assisting individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of understanding or concerns.

  • Adapt effectively to changing work conditions and maintain composure in stressful situations.

  • Complete a minimum of one full week of On-the-Job Training (OJT) to ensure readiness for independent desk coverage.
