About the role The Information Security System Officer develops information system solutions following Risk Management Framework (RMF) with implementations following JSIG, DAAPM, and CMMC. The ISSO assists the ISSM in the responsible for attaining and maintaining system assessments and authorizations through government authorizing agencies from requirements through operational deployment. The ISSO also coordinates requirements with DoD agencies (e.g. DCA, OSI PJ, etc.) to ensure mission accomplishment and the protection of sensitive information. This position will require Special Access Program access-- SAP experience is highly desired with at a minimum Secret Clearance. Interacts with agencies such as DARPA, DCSA, OSI PJ, continuous review of EMASS/Program packages, setting up and managing our computer networks, and completing audits between our two locations in Irvine, CA, and Poway, CA. Maintains compliance of accredited information systems based on federal and DoD security standards and creates and maintains the System Security Plans (SSP) and associated documentation. Information Security Engineers within GITS are actively involved in the following: Participate in an Agile Scrum team and be expected to implement, support, and enhance the security posture of GITS solutions to maintain the compliance and security of Intel Federal capabilities. Responsible for the security event monitoring of our solutions, including the definition, tuning, and automation of monitoring capabilities. Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies, Federal regulations and standards. Guide the proper implementation and validation of security controls. Work with customers and stakeholders to respond to security incidents and lead mitigation work to avoid repeat incidents. Creates solutions in partnership with enterprise architecture to design security measures (from infrastructure to software) that safeguard sensitive data, protect confidentiality and availability, and enable compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements for the enterprise and USG regulations and standards. Partners with system engineers, network engineers, database administrators, and information security personnel in support, integration, development, and lifecycle management. Develops and validates functional requirements and identifies gaps or risks to meet business and security outcomes. Reviews health measures for various functional performance components of platform, applications, controls, and appliances and supports key security systems, responds to security events, and troubleshoots and proactively discovers security issues across the enterprise. Validates security controls are working as designed (validation and/or efficacy) to ensure effective security measures. Assists with the development of new and/or updates existing controls that limit the risk exposure for the company and optimizes security system performance. Researching new security and information technology trends in networks and systems to understand and drive strategic plans, forward engineering, upgrades, and changes while influencing vendors to drive bug resolution, product feature enhancement, and key security improvements. Works to identify, design, test, document, and implement internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimization of data delivery, elimination of technical debt, and support/administration of key security control systems. About the role

The Information Security System Officer develops information system solutions following Risk Management Framework (RMF) with implementations following JSIG, DAAPM, and CMMC. The ISSO assists the ISSM in the responsible for attaining and maintaining system assessments and authorizations through government authorizing agencies from requirements through operational deployment. The ISSO also coordinates requirements with DoD agencies (e.g. DCA, OSI PJ, etc.) to ensure mission accomplishment and the protection of sensitive information.

This position will require Special Access Program access-- SAP experience is highly desired with at a minimum Secret Clearance. Interacts with agencies such as DARPA, DCSA, OSI PJ, continuous review of EMASS/Program packages, setting up and managing our computer networks, and completing audits between our two locations in Irvine, CA, and Poway, CA. Maintains compliance of accredited information systems based on federal and DoD security standards and creates and maintains the System Security Plans (SSP) and associated documentation.

At EpiSci, you will:

  • Ensure classified systems follow government/company regulations while still meeting program demands and operating in an accredited state to include RMF documentation
  • Assist with the design, development and implementation of programs, procedures and systems for secure facilities; ensures facility compliance with requirements for classified information system processing
  • Assist and conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, security threats/risks, and protection needs
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable policies, regulations, and compliance documents related to classified computing assets and environments
  • Assist with security reviews, tests, and audits of information technology systems and DoD Cybersecurity On-Site Inspections; ensures periodic self-inspections are conducted

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's or Minimum of 5 years of ISSO or Cybersecurity policy/engineering experience
  • DoD 8570 IAM Level II/III certification (condition of employment)
  • Proficiency with multiple Government information security policies and regulations: e.g. Risk Management Framework (RMF), ICD-503, JSIG, and NIST 800 series special publications to include writing authorization packages
  • Experience in designing computing hardware and networking, along with expertise in security-relevant tools, systems, and applications such as NESSUS, ACAS, DISA STIGs, SCAP, and HBSS
  • Experience with incident response, disaster recovery, forensics principles, continuous monitoring, and cybersecurity hygiene domains/network enclaves to include designing, building, and maintaining information system enclaves

Travel Requirements:

  • Willing to travel for company business between Irvine, CA and Poway, CA locations, as well as to customer sites (~10%)

Security Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active DoD security clearance

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
