(ACPE), which “is a multicultural, multifaith organization devoted to improving the quality of ministry and pastoral care offered by spiritual caregivers of all faiths through the educational method of CPE.” On occasion, provide spiritual care to patients, families, staff and volunteers, as part of the process to educate and assess performance of students. Job Description Manages all student applications and correspondence related to the CPE program Recruits, screens, interviews, and selects all CPE students. Conduct some of the didactics and verbatim sessions for CPE Recruit, screen, interview, select, orient, teach, supervise and evaluate Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students (residents and/or interns). Conduct the didactics and verbatim sessions for CPE students. Offer significant assistance with orientation for CPE students. Assist with, and in some cases have primary responsibility for, administrative functions related to the CPE program, including but not limited to managing the accreditation portfolio. Other tasks as assigned by Vice President of Chaplaincy Services. Maintain the standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE), which “is a multicultural, multifaith organization devoted to improving the quality of ministry and pastoral care offered by spiritual caregivers of all faiths through the educational method of CPE.”

On occasion, provide spiritual care to patients, families, staff and volunteers, as part of the process to educate and assess performance of students.

Job Description

  • Manages all student applications and correspondence related to the CPE program
  • Recruits, screens, interviews, and selects all CPE students.

  • Supervising and educating CPE students through individual and group supervision, didactic presentations, and case studies in coordination with the Spiritual Care Manager.

  • Works cooperatively with staff chaplains and staff from other disciplines as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains endorsement in good standing in his/her faith group.
  • Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars and workshop experiences.   Participates in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Works in a collegial relationship with clergy of all faiths.  
  • Helps to maintain good working relationships with community religious organizations and seminaries, to establish and/or maintain a multifaith multicultural CPE program.
  • Participates in spiritual care department committees as assigned.
  • Assist in providing in-service education for spiritual care staff related to CPE and chaplaincy/pastoral care issues.
  • Supports the department goal of being a place in which differences are accepted and valued among staff and participants in all department programs.
  • Participates in activities that expand knowledge of cultures, ethnic groups and religions
  • Maintains departmental relationships through constructive, open and honest sharing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree required in related fields
  • ACPE Certification as an ACPE Certified Educator.  

  • Certified Chaplain with APC, NACC, or NAJC. 

  • Experience developing, supervising and managing an accredited CPE program.  
  • Experience working with a diverse student group and a diverse patient population.
  • Experience working as part of a patient’s care team.
  • Knowledge of major faith groups, pastoral theology, dynamics of loss and grief, and of crisis theory and intervention is necessary.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point
