About the Role
Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. We are seeking a highly motivated Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Specialist / Applications Tester to serve as the critical nexus between a multi-disciplinary development team and the end-user community for mission-critical applications. This role is essential for validating the usability, functionality, and compliance of deployed systems.
You will own the functional testing process, ensuring that new applications and enhancements meet stringent performance and security SLAs. Crucially, you will be the Point-of-Contact (POC) for a diverse user base, actively gathering requirements, resolving issues, and building trust to drive application adoption and success within the Sponsor's high-side environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing and Validation:
  • Develop and direct procedures, programming, and documentation for software system testing and validation, for unit and functional tests.
  • Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Sponsor's developers on software usability and functionality.
  • User Support and Liaison:
  • Provide a central Point-of-Contact (POC) between Users, Stakeholders, and Sponsor, to resolve issues at the lowest practical support level.
  • Determine causes of User issues, and explain the best solution or document the issue for further research; follows up, if needed, to ensure resolution.
  • Use Sponsor's system to document, process, and monitor incidents, problems, inquiries, and change and service requests.
  • Build sustainable relationships of trust through timely, open, and interactive communication.
  • Requirements and Outreach:
  • Work with Users and Stakeholders to elicit new features, workflows, and functionality.
  • Write or contribute to instructions or manuals to guide Users.
  • Write materials for, or contribute to, training classes, brown-bags, and outreach sessions for Users and Stakeholders.
  • Advertise features/capabilities of the applications.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure each new application or system enhancement meets agreed upon performance and security SLAS (e.g., system up-time, concurrent users, system recovery).
  • Comply with the Sponsor's Risk Management (i.e., cyber security) Framework and architectural/A&A processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of professional experience in SQA, functional testing, and/or application support
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (or equivalent Sponsor clearance).
  • Testing Expertise: Demonstrated experience testing Single-Page Applications (SPAs) and performing UI tests and reporting test results.
  • Documentation & Tracking: Demonstrated experience documenting testing procedures and testing results and working with developers to track new features and report failed tests.
  • Customer Interface: Demonstrated experience being the Point-of-Contact (POC) for Users needing help or assistance with applications and building rapport with customers among a diverse User base.
  • Feature Advocacy: Demonstrated experience Advertising features/capabilities of the applications.
  • Requirements Elicitation: Demonstrated experience Working with Users and Stakeholders to elicit new features, workflows, and functionality.
  • Agile Tooling: Demonstrated experience using JIRA.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated experience working on multi-disciplinary application development teams.
