Position Summary:  

The Senior Instructional Design Consultant (IDC) is a key member of the Solution Deployment and Services (SDS) Readiness & Education team, focused on creating impactful learning experiences that drive product adoption and proficiency. This role designs, develops, and maintains innovative educational solutions that advance our medication management solutions, ensuring learners gain the skills and confidence to succeed. 

As a strategic learning partner, the Sr. IDC collaborates with team members to assess role-based performance needs and requirements, translating them into effective learning solutions. Using modern instructional approaches—including e-learning, blended learning, microlearning, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), interactive simulations, and performance support tools—the Sr. IDC delivers engaging, scalable, and data-driven learning programs, in partnership with the Training & Education team.

This position leads complex education initiatives across multiple product lines, creates detailed project plans, and manages relationships with cross-functional partners. Using analytics and evaluation methods, the Sr. IDC ensures continuous improvement and alignment with SDS Education Services’ strategic objectives. 

The Sr. IDC in this role also provides Learning Management Administrator backup and support (25-50% responsibilities), which may include both internal and external systems.

Project Management 

  • Communicates and collaborates with Training & Education Consultants (instructors) to ensure alignment with education programs, performance solutions, and learning paths

  • Maintains an advanced knowledge of assigned MMS products or portfolio and stays informed about and plan for upcoming product releases; manages learning path curriculum development for assigned products or portfolio 

  • Leads, monitors, and reports on the progress of projects, ensuring the accuracy of status reports and data related to team metrics

  • Manages complex learning-related initiatives as a business partner focusing on product use, installation, support, and service for multiple product lines  

  • Manages initiatives targeting organizational improvement for BD business units and customers  

  • Flexes with business strategy changes and acts as a key contributor in a complex environment

  • Creates and maintains detailed project plans for each program

  • Balances workload in a fast-paced environment, while working on multiple concurrent projects

Business Relationships & Alignment

  • Leads Education Services critical initiatives with cross-business impact and involvement

  • Creates and manages professional communications through a variety of platforms: SharePoint portals, forums, email, bulletins, etc.

  • Takes agile and flexible approaches to evolving business strategies

  • Mentors new instructional designers

  • Ability to understand system operations and dependencies to effectively set-up, manage, and troubleshoot problems with learning management and related quality systems

  • Can quickly learn new products, applications, and systems

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of agile, iterative development methodologies

Education Qualifications & Previous Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communication, or related field required. Master’s degree in Performance Improvement, Education Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Interactive Media, or Learning Systems preferred.

  • Experience: 3+ years’ experience in Instructional Design or learning solutions with an emphasis on eLearning; 2+ years' experience in learning management administration preferred

Desired/Additional Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced skills and experience with Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other learning authoring tools are required.

  • Experience developing eLearning (web-based training modules), technical training videos (script writing, production, and video editing), documentation, presentations and other training materials maintained in a Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Experience using SAP SuccessFactors, Litmos LMS and Veeva Vault preferred.

  • Industry experience with customer support organizations and/or medical devices product implementation and support in a global environment preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and managing stakeholders.

Certifications:

  • Advanced Certificate in Instructional Design - Desired
