Heirloom CarbonBrisbane, California
About Us All across the world, from the azure pools of Turkey and Oman to the travertine terraces of Yellowstone, our planet quietly pulls carbon dioxide from the air and turns it to stone. For eons, Earth has relied on this process to balance its carbon cycle. What if it could be harnessed? What if we could do it faster, in larger quantities, and at a low enough cost to make it an effective tool in the fight against climate change? At Heirloom, we are turning that into reality. We use the natural carbon capture properties of abundant minerals to pull CO2 from the air, and store it permanently underground. We come to work every day to slow climate change, and are united behind a single, common goal - to remove 1 billion tons of CO2 from the sky by 2035, and to not stop before we get there. We bring together the precise recipe of science, technology, know-how, and strategy necessary to make low cost, high quality carbon removal a reality. If we’re successful, we will directly mitigate climate change, build a world we can proudly hand over to our children and grandchildren, and catalyze an industry that will rival the largest the world has ever seen. If you want to change the planet, come join us. Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion As temperatures continue to rise, individuals from marginalized communities will face the harshest impacts of climate change. We believe wholeheartedly that building a diverse company is critical to Heirloom’s success. To accomplish this, we’ve put recruiting, hiring and retaining individuals from underrepresented groups at the top of our priority list. We encourage you to apply if you identify as Black, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Hispanic or Latino, LGBTQ+ – or with any other underrepresented group – even if you don’t tick all the boxes in the description below. Job Description

About Marvell

Marvell's semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.

At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.

Your Team, Your Impact

As a Senior Staff Mixed-Signal Design Engineer or Scientist at Marvell, you will be part of our Central Engineering organization, driving innovation at the intersection of integrated circuits (IC) and artificial intelligence (AI). You'll join a fast-growing multi-disciplinary engineering team that plays a critical role in shaping the company's technology roadmap and delivering core solutions to our world-leading businesses.

This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge design projects that span from advanced product development to pioneering R&D. At Marvell, you'll find the perfect balance of scale and agility-large enough to provide breadth across multiple engineering disciplines, yet nimble enough to give you the freedom to explore laterally across functions or dive deep into specialized areas. Whether your interests lie in analog IC design, AI hardware and tools, or the integration of both, you'll be empowered to make a lasting impact on the future of our technologies and industries.

What You Can Expect

Marvell is seeking a Senior Mixed-Signal Design Engineer with strong foundations in analog/mixed-signal ICs and/or computer science and systems to help drive the next generation of connectivity solutions that power today's AI infrastructure. This is a unique role that values both depth and breadth-ideal for engineers who excel in one domain but are eager to grow into others.

As part of our Central Engineering organization, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies spanning IC design, advanced packaging, system-level integration, and AI-enabled workflows. Candidates are expected to contribute in one or more of the following areas, with the flexibility and ambition to expand across disciplines over time:

  • Circuit Design & R&D: Develop high-performance mixed-signal circuits for core products and research initiatives, including optics, CMOS technologies, and advanced packaging.
  • System-Level Engineering: Contribute to algorithms, hardware calibration, workflow automation, and optimization; build and fine-tune deep learning models; and ensure quality assurance of deployed systems.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with teams across hardware, software, and systems to deliver integrated solutions that enable world-class connectivity for modern AI applications.

Why Join Us

At Marvell, you'll be part of a team that sits at the intersection of analog design, systems engineering, and AI innovation. We combine the agility of a fast-growing engineering group with the scale and impact of a global technology leader. Here, you'll have the freedom to explore across disciplines-from transistor-level design to system algorithms and deep learning-while contributing directly to the technologies that shape tomorrow's infrastructure. If you're looking for a place to push boundaries, grow your expertise, and make a meaningful impact on industries worldwide, Marvell offers the platform to do it.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Education: MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on high-performance analog/mixed-signal IC design, or MSc/PhD in Computer Science/AI with a solid foundation in electronics and IC fundamentals; 2-3 years of relevant experience (industry or academic research).

  • Proven track record in at least one of the following:

  • Full-cycle IC design (including tape-out and lab evaluation), or

  • Development and deployment of deep learning systems (during graduate research or industry work).

  • Hands-on expertise with Tapeout process, EDA/CAD tools for IC design, and/or modern software frameworks for AI and system development.

  • Lab skills: Measuring IC performance, debugging, and correlating simulation with silicon results.

  • Strong fundamentals in at least one domain, with the ability to bridge into others:

  • Transistor-level analog design

  • System-level design, calibration, and convex optimization

  • Deep learning architectures and training systems

  • Device physics

  • Control theory and feedback loop stability analysis

Preferred Experience

  • Direct project experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • High-precision analog circuits (e.g., regulators, current sensors, bandgaps, DACs/ADCs)

  • Control theory, loop design, convex optimization, or hardware calibration

  • Deep learning model development or fine-tuning (CNNs, GNNs, RNNs, LLMs, etc.)

  • RF and high-speed (10GHz+) circuit/system challenges

  • Exposure to package-system integration and technology trade-offs (SiGe BiCMOS a plus).

Soft Skills

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work across disciplines.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
