Essential Duties: As a Principal Software Engineer within the Quantum Programming group, you will be a core contributor to this stack, including both maintenance and significant new feature development. Our compilers are primarily written in Common Lisp, and interface with a lot of software, both as a library and as a stand-alone application. In addition to technical work, you will have leadership responsibilities, helping shape the direction of compiler and programming language development activities at HRL. Required Skills: Superb understanding of operating system fundamentals, programming language runtimes, and programming language implementation. Outstanding programming skills, including full cycle software development with Git. Practical knowledge of several different programming language paradigms, including functional and logic programming. Demonstrated experience in implementation of a non-trivial programming language. Excellent code review and mentorship skills. Knowledge of quantum computing and quantum mechanics. Knowledge of Common Lisp (We use Steel Bank Common Lisp). Knowledge of Python. HRL is a world-leader in silicon quantum dot technologies. At HRL, we are developing a full quantum device and computation stack, including an optimizing compiler for a quantum programming language.

Essential Duties:

As a Principal Software Engineer within the Quantum Programming group, you will be a core contributor to this stack, including both maintenance and significant new feature development. Our compilers are primarily written in Common Lisp, and interface with a lot of software, both as a library and as a stand-alone application.

In addition to technical work, you will have leadership responsibilities, helping shape the direction of compiler and programming language development activities at HRL.

Required Skills:

Superb understanding of operating system fundamentals, programming language runtimes, and programming language implementation.

Outstanding programming skills, including full cycle software development with Git.

Practical knowledge of several different programming language paradigms, including functional and logic programming.

Demonstrated experience in implementation of a non-trivial programming language.

Excellent code review and mentorship skills.

Knowledge of quantum computing and quantum mechanics.
