The successful candidate will be responsible for designing cables/harness, either individually or in a team environment, to be used for military applications with a focus on aviation. The candidate will be capable of using Creo Schematic and Creo Parametric, or similar Computer Assisted Design (CAD) systems, to prepare electro/mechanical design layouts, electrical diagrams, detail and assembly drawings and models in accordance with ASME Y14 Standards, and related documentation in conformance to appropriate program and/or military specifications. Experience in the design of wiring products to AS5088-1 and familiarity with IPC WHMA-620 manufacturing processes. Additional tasking will include the identification & execution of the program requirements, preparation/participation for technical meetings for internal and external representatives, effective communication between teams and team members, and the ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness. Travel: Limited, in support of program objectives Tasking: Assignments will be received in task and objective oriented terms. Work is performed without major direction from management either individually or in a team environment, to develop major wire harness and/or flex harness components or develop improvements to a product to facilitate manufacturing operations. Candidates will be actively involved in daily operations when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines and program personnel to ensure program requirements and schedules are met. Design and technical data package (TDP) development that may include areas such as electrical/mechanical packaging, harnessing, cabling, electrical schematic/diagrams, structures, surfacing, and mechanisms. Skills needed to perform tasking may include the following: SME background in manufacturing methods/processes of harness design such as IPC-620. Experience with CREO or Pro/Engineer Cabling Module, Pro/Diagram, CREO Schematic, and Sheet Metal Module. Demonstrated use of CREO or Pro/Engineer solid modeling tool and considerable knowledge of Windchill PDM. Understanding of basic principles, theories and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation. Including knowledge of industry practices and standards used in drafting, modeling and design development or revisions. Ability to identify and correct design, model, or drawing errors/omissions/deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or improvements. Technical knowledge sufficient to perform complex tasks such as preparation of all types of detail drawings, large assemblies, interface drawings, various layouts for design concepts, and many other high-level tasks. Technical knowledge sufficient to perform design calculations of wiring systems such as voltage drop, AWG requirements, breaker sizing, RF line loss, relay use, and other such electrical knowledge. Technical knowledge using documentation specifications such as MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100. Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing cables/harness, either individually or in a team environment, to be used for military applications with a focus on aviation. The candidate will be capable of using Creo Schematic and Creo Parametric, or similar Computer Assisted Design (CAD) systems, to prepare electro/mechanical design layouts, electrical diagrams, detail and assembly drawings and models in accordance with ASME Y14 Standards, and related documentation in conformance to appropriate program and/or military specifications. Experience in the design of wiring products to AS5088-1 and familiarity with IPC WHMA-620 manufacturing processes.

Additional tasking will include the identification & execution of the program requirements, preparation/participation for technical meetings for internal and external representatives, effective communication between teams and team members, and the ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner with attention to detail and thoroughness.

Travel:

  • Limited, in support of program objectives

Tasking:

Assignments will be received in task and objective oriented terms. Work is performed without major direction from management either individually or in a team environment, to develop major wire harness and/or flex harness components or develop improvements to a product to facilitate manufacturing operations. Candidates will be actively involved in daily operations when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines and program personnel to ensure program requirements and schedules are met.

Design and technical data package (TDP) development that may include areas such as electrical/mechanical packaging, harnessing, cabling, electrical schematic/diagrams, structures, surfacing, and mechanisms. Skills needed to perform tasking may include the following:

  • SME background in manufacturing methods/processes of harness design such as IPC-620.
  • Experience with CREO or Pro/Engineer Cabling Module, Pro/Diagram, CREO Schematic, and Sheet Metal Module. Demonstrated use of CREO or Pro/Engineer solid modeling tool and considerable knowledge of Windchill PDM.
  • Understanding of basic principles, theories and concepts for creation and preparation of engineering design documentation. Including knowledge of industry practices and standards used in drafting, modeling and design development or revisions.
  • Ability to identify and correct design, model, or drawing errors/omissions/deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
  • Technical knowledge sufficient to perform complex tasks such as preparation of all types of detail drawings, large assemblies, interface drawings, various layouts for design concepts, and many other high-level tasks.
  • Technical knowledge sufficient to perform design calculations of wiring systems such as voltage drop, AWG requirements, breaker sizing, RF line loss, relay use, and other such electrical knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge using documentation specifications such as MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24 and ASME Y14.100.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills / good communicator
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Creo Schematic and Creo Parametric with Cabling
  • Experience using PTC Windchill
  • Wiring Experience in Aerospace and/or Military and familiarity with wiring diagrams
  • Electrical design knowledge as it pertains to aircraft wiring systems
