The Travelers’ Experience Design (XD) team creates solutions to ensure best-in-class experiences for our customers, agents, employees, and partners that deliver business impact. Travelers is looking for an exceptional XD Senior Lead to join our Design Standards Team. This role is integral to the creation and implementation of design standards across our organization and will partner closely with EXD leadership, Design Team Leads and multi-functional business partners. The ideal candidate will be both proficient at both creative and craft, adept at both strategic development and hands-on execution. This role is charged with creating XD (UI/UX) Design Standards in partnership with our Travelers Design System and Brand Standards teams. As a Design Standards thinker, they are able to create principles, templates and accelerators that enable the design organization at large to deliver a more efficient and effective experience to our key audiences. This centralized role is pivotal in creating a cohesive XD design approach that accounts for the distinct needs of specific audiences including customers, agents, and employees across platforms and business areas. This XD Senior Lead will be responsible for creating comprehensive and on-brand XD principles, style guides, standards and design accelerators to connect and reinforce a more cohesive Travelers experience. They will have the leadership skills to partner, steer and influence internal Travelers and external vendor teams to create solutions that are beautiful and impactful. In this role, you will review ongoing projects with the design teams across various business units to address any immediate needs or challenges and build long-term partnerships. You'll dive into creating or refining style guides and design templates, leveraging the Travelers Design System and ensuring your deliverables align with the latest Travelers Brand Guidelines, industry standards and company goals. Expect to spend time collaborating with business unit teams to understand their design requirements and provide expert guidance. You might also work on high-impact design projects, crafting solutions that address complex system or ecosystem needs. Regular meetings with your centralized EXD team will focus on strategic planning and innovation, ensuring that the design standards evolve in tandem with emerging trends and technologies. Your role will be dynamic, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design work, technical UX expertise with creative direction and driving excellence across the organization's Design System’s efforts. What Will You Do? Develop XD Design Standards: Create and maintain a set of XD design standards, style guides, and best practices that ensure on-brand consistency and quality across all user experiences. These standards should address the needs of various audiences such as customers, agents, and employees. Design Templates and Accelerators: Develop and manage design templates and accelerators that streamline the design process for business units. Ensure these resources are up-to-date and aligned with the latest design trends and technologies as well as Brand Guidelines. Support business area Design Teams: Collaborate with design teams across multiple business units to ensure adherence to design standards. Provide guidance, feedback, and support to facilitate effective and efficient design processes. Bring best in class industry knowledge and practices and identify ways best for internal Design Teams to mature their craft and create efficiencies for Travelers. Design Systems Expertise: Possess deep knowledge and experience in partnering with Technology to inform and ensure Design Systems and Design Standards are in harmony, working together to enable XD teams. Partnership & Collaboration: Lead with a Service mindset with a key goal of establishing trusted relationships, strong partnerships and respected influence over the direction of work on other teams. Work Management: Lead and collaborate with internal and external vendor teams to provide creative and technical direction, as well as lead project management of the work (i.e. management of project briefs, timelines, budget, deliverables, etc.). Project Assistance: Partner with business unit teams on specific projects, providing design expertise and creating designs as needed. Assist in projects that require large-scale system or ecosystem design projects. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design. Propose and implement improvements to design standards and processes to drive innovation and enhance user experience. Provide domain-specific expertise and experience design leadership for initiatives and activities, while supporting product and journey vision and strategy, identifying and mitigating risks, and informing decision-making for the organization. Communicate design direction and rationale, solicit feedback, and lead prioritization and application. Lead the research and design of solutions for products and services by defining, creating, and improving models, concepts, and design elements (e.g., experience goals, journey maps, information architecture, scenarios, personas, interactions, content, visuals, etc.) guided by established design objectives, principles, and standards. Guide collaborative activities with various stakeholders (i.e., end users, other business and technology functions, and outside partners), integrating and advancing a human-centered focus that informs work through research-based insights and design exploration. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Experience in a related field, such as HCI, VCD, Service Design, Anthropology, etc. Seven years of related experience. One years of leadership experience (formal management or other). Strong knowledge of most areas, along with proficiency in application of three or more: Design systems Art direction Style guides (creation, strategy, visualization) Visual design Design strategy Service design Interaction design Information design Information architecture Content design (strategy, writing, editing for interaction) Prototyping Usability testing (working knowledge of) Data analysis Collaboration and facilitation Presentation and communication​ What is a Must Have? Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in work experience. Six years of related experience. What Is in It for You? Requires working with the Wiring Harness engineers of each customer division (primarily Ford, Stellantis, and Toyota), internal Procurement, Validation, QA departments, and external suppliers. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Use 3D CAD to develop components for Wiring Harness; requires ongoing packing studies to analyze vehicle fit, while maintaining required clearance from surrounding parts. Create and check 2D drawings for developed parts using SEWS and Customer standards, and releasing those drawings for production according to the prepared development schedule. Act as program lead where assigned. The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. What Is the Opportunity?

The Travelers’ Experience Design (XD) team creates solutions to ensure best-in-class experiences for our customers, agents, employees, and partners that deliver business impact. Travelers is looking for an exceptional XD Senior Lead to join our Design Standards Team. This role is integral to the creation and implementation of design standards across our organization and will partner closely with EXD leadership, Design Team Leads and multi-functional business partners.


The ideal candidate will be both proficient at both creative and craft, adept at both strategic development and hands-on execution. This role is charged with creating XD (UI/UX) Design Standards in partnership with our Travelers Design System and Brand Standards teams. As a Design Standards thinker, they are able to create principles, templates and accelerators that enable the design organization at large to deliver a more efficient and effective experience to our key audiences. This centralized role is pivotal in creating a cohesive XD design approach that accounts for the distinct needs of specific audiences including customers, agents, and employees across platforms and business areas. This XD Senior Lead will be responsible for creating comprehensive and on-brand XD principles, style guides, standards and design accelerators to connect and reinforce a more cohesive Travelers experience. They will have the leadership skills to partner, steer and influence internal Travelers and external vendor teams to create solutions that are beautiful and impactful.


In this role, you will review ongoing projects with the design teams across various business units to address any immediate needs or challenges and build long-term partnerships. You'll dive into creating or refining style guides and design templates, leveraging the Travelers Design System and ensuring your deliverables align with the latest Travelers Brand Guidelines, industry standards and company goals. Expect to spend time collaborating with business unit teams to understand their design requirements and provide expert guidance. You might also work on high-impact design projects, crafting solutions that address complex system or ecosystem needs. Regular meetings with your centralized EXD team will focus on strategic planning and innovation, ensuring that the design standards evolve in tandem with emerging trends and technologies. Your role will be dynamic, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design work, technical UX expertise with creative direction and driving excellence across the organization's Design System’s efforts.

What Will You Do?

  • Develop XD Design Standards: Create and maintain a set of XD design standards, style guides, and best practices that ensure on-brand consistency and quality across all user experiences. These standards should address the needs of various audiences such as customers, agents, and employees.

  • Design Templates and Accelerators: Develop and manage design templates and accelerators that streamline the design process for business units. Ensure these resources are up-to-date and aligned with the latest design trends and technologies as well as Brand Guidelines.

  • Support business area Design Teams: Collaborate with design teams across multiple business units to ensure adherence to design standards. Provide guidance, feedback, and support to facilitate effective and efficient design processes. Bring best in class industry knowledge and practices and identify ways best for internal Design Teams to mature their craft and create efficiencies for Travelers.

  • Design Systems Expertise: Possess deep knowledge and experience in partnering with Technology to inform and ensure Design Systems and Design Standards are in harmony, working together to enable XD teams.

  • Partnership & Collaboration: Lead with a Service mindset with a key goal of establishing trusted relationships, strong partnerships and respected influence over the direction of work on other teams.

  • Work Management: Lead and collaborate with internal and external vendor teams to provide creative and technical direction, as well as lead project management of the work (i.e. management of project briefs, timelines, budget, deliverables, etc.).

  • Project Assistance: Partner with business unit teams on specific projects, providing design expertise and creating designs as needed. Assist in projects that require large-scale system or ecosystem design projects.

  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design. Propose and implement improvements to design standards and processes to drive innovation and enhance user experience.

  • Provide domain-specific expertise and experience design leadership for initiatives and activities, while supporting product and journey vision and strategy, identifying and mitigating risks, and informing decision-making for the organization.

  • Communicate design direction and rationale, solicit feedback, and lead prioritization and application.

  • Lead the research and design of solutions for products and services by defining, creating, and improving models, concepts, and design elements (e.g., experience goals, journey maps, information architecture, scenarios, personas, interactions, content, visuals, etc.) guided by established design objectives, principles, and standards.

  • Guide collaborative activities with various stakeholders (i.e., end users, other business and technology functions, and outside partners), integrating and advancing a human-centered focus that informs work through research-based insights and design exploration.
