CLASS SUMMARY: Under close supervision, produce, install and maintain all forms of visual communication across the airport campus to improve passenger and vehicular wayfinding, increase safety, and enhance visual communications. Install, repair, and maintain all types of airport signage, including directional signs, informational signs, and safety signs. Assist with graphic design and layout functions to be produced in print or other visual communication form if needed. Performs graphic design and layout, using shapes, colors, text, technology, and art—both digitally and physically—to convey messages effectively. Produces large or small format prints and/or signage by utilizing design methods, techniques, materials, tools, computers and equipment. Participates in the conceptual creative design process. Inspect and evaluate signage and graphics for accuracy, clarity, and condition. Uses industry leading technology for design, cutting, framing, and installation (e.g. CNC router, laser engraving, etc.). Performs installation of completed design work. Clean, maintain and organize tools, equipment, and shop areas. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree or three years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Driver's License Obtain and maintain area non-movement airfield driving Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance. KNOWLEDGE OF: Adobe Creative Suite Graphic Software; Practices and principles of visual communications; Digital graphics production and fabrication techniques; RIP software and large format printer operation. SKILL IN: Clearly and effectively communicating, and advocating, both orally and in writing; Computer-based technologies, including word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic communication tools, to enhance workflows and communication; Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups. Reports to: National Graphic Production Manager Key Responsibilities & Duties Primary Responsibilities Operate and maintain large-format roll-to-roll and flatbed printers (e.g., HP, Roland, Vutek), RIP software, and finishing equipment. Trim, laminate, mount, and package graphic materials for shipping while maintaining accuracy and production quality. Prepare digitally printed rolls and apply graphics to panels and substrates. Provide quality control at key stages of the production process, ensuring final output meets project specifications. Follow graphic proofs and schematics for fabrication, layout, and application. Execute file prep and review pre-flight details prior to production. Maintain accurate documentation and manifest panels and packages for shipping. Job Description

CLASS SUMMARY:

Under close supervision, produce, install and maintain all forms of visual communication across the airport campus to improve passenger and vehicular wayfinding, increase safety, and enhance visual communications.   Assist with graphic design and layout functions as needed.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

  • Install, repair, and maintain all types of airport signage, including directional signs, informational signs, and safety signs. Assist with graphic design and layout functions to be produced in print or other visual communication form if needed. 
  • Performs graphic design and layout, using shapes, colors, text, technology, and art—both digitally and physically—to convey messages effectively.
  • Produces large or small format prints and/or signage by utilizing design methods, techniques, materials, tools, computers and equipment. Participates in the conceptual creative design process.
  • Inspect and evaluate signage and graphics for accuracy, clarity, and condition.
  • Uses industry leading technology for design, cutting, framing, and installation (e.g. CNC router, laser engraving, etc.).
  • Performs installation of completed design work.
  • Clean, maintain and organize tools, equipment, and shop areas.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree or three years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

   

 

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Obtain and maintain area non-movement airfield driving
  • Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Adobe Creative Suite Graphic Software;
  • Practices and principles of visual communications;
  • Digital graphics production and fabrication techniques;
  • RIP software and large format printer operation.

SKILL IN:

  • Clearly and effectively communicating, and advocating, both orally and in writing;
  • Computer-based technologies, including word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic communication tools, to enhance workflows and communication; Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.

 

 

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require:  kneeling, reaching, fingering, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 

Heavy Work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
