This pivotal role will provide strategic direction, technical excellence, business development, and personnel leadership in delivering cutting-edge ITS solutions to public and private sector clients. Leadership & Strategic Planning Define and drive the technical vision and goals for ITS design in alignment with FHU’s strategic plan. Champion innovation in ITS design approaches, tools, and implementation strategies. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that supports staff development and retention. Project Delivery & Technical Excellence Oversee and ensure the quality of ITS design services, including the development of fiber and wireless communication systems, network architecture, and field equipment integration. Provide QA/QC oversight for ITS deliverables and ensure adherence to FHU’s Total Quality Management Plan. Lead multi-disciplinary teams in delivering projects on time and within budget. Team & Resource Management Manage staff allocations, project workload, recruitment, and staff development within the ITS design group. Actively mentor and develop team members’ technical and professional capabilities. Collaborate with Group Leaders, Technical Resource Managers, and Regional Directors to optimize resource use and share best practices across the company. Client Engagement & Business Development Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery. Identify new business opportunities, participate in proposal preparation, and contribute to marketing strategy for ITS services. Represent FHU at industry events and conferences, promoting our ITS capabilities. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Transportation Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution. 10+ years of experience in the transportation/ITS industry, with a strong background in ITS design and implementation. Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring technical staff. Proven success leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating across offices and regions. Experience in business development, proposal writing, and client relations. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license. Specialized certifications in ITS or fiber optic systems (e.g., CFOT, FOA). Familiarity with ITS architecture standards, FHWA guidelines, and modern ITS software platforms. Why FHU? Represent the company and provide expert testimony as required. Ensure NERC standard compliance. Represent Ameren in NERC audits and possibly on industry committees. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college is required. Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to obtain within one year of assuming the supervisor position required. Five or more years of experience in substation design, power system protection design, substation project management, or substation and relay maintenance required. Knowledge and understanding of substation equipment, construction methods, and standards preferred. Familiarity with Ameren transmission system, schematic control diagrams preferred. Familiarity with NERC Reliability and CIP standards preferred. In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Good leadership, management, analytical, communication, and human relations skills required. Compensation Range: $128,700.00 - $199,500.00 At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. This pivotal role will provide strategic direction, technical excellence, business development, and personnel leadership in delivering cutting-edge ITS solutions to public and private sector clients.

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Define and drive the technical vision and goals for ITS design in alignment with FHU’s strategic plan.

Project Delivery & Technical Excellence

  • Identify new business opportunities, participate in proposal preparation, and contribute to marketing strategy for ITS services.
  • Represent FHU at industry events and conferences, promoting our ITS capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Transportation Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of experience in the transportation/ITS industry, with a strong background in ITS design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring technical staff.
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating across offices and regions.
  • Experience in business development, proposal writing, and client relations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Specialized certifications in ITS or fiber optic systems (e.g., CFOT, FOA).
  • Familiarity with ITS architecture standards, FHWA guidelines, and modern ITS software platforms.
