We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Design Advisor with an advanced understanding of industrial and UX design principles, processes, and tools, and the ability to apply this knowledge to the conceptualization, design, evaluation, and development of medical devices and digital health systems. They should also be able to influence multi-functional partners, adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and effectively lead external consultants. Key Responsibilities The Senior Industrial Design Advisor will support the Industrial Design Team Lead in driving design activities for drug delivery devices and systems within the Delivery, Device, and Connected Solutions (DDCS) department. We are looking for a highly driven individual who will help craft a design culture within Lilly and develop a community of design thinking champions who will always put the user first. Your extensive expertise in design will play an essential role in establishing a process that produces a design output of world-class quality and consistency. The role will drive design vision in partnership with a multi-disciplinary design team and multi-functional partners to apply human-centered design methodologies to provide intuitive, aesthetically purposeful, emotionally satisfying, and manufacturable products that meet the expectations of users as well as Lilly's brand identity. Other responsibilities include The position requires excellent organizational, design problem-solving, and communication skills. Lead multiple hardware and digital UX design efforts with internal and external design resources, from early to late stages of device development. Lead multi-functional teams to consensus and think creatively in a fast-paced environment. Provide feedback on all design aspects, including product development strategy, concept development, design language, device interaction experience, and design for manufacturability. Collaborate with business partners, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, System Engineers, Human Factors Engineers, and other key functions to translate user needs into viable concepts, create initial device prototypes, and lead design throughout the development process. Advocate for user experience and establish new partnerships inside and outside the company. Ensure that quality design solutions are delivered in medical devices and digital device user interfaces, and that design outputs are consistent across Lilly's portfolio. Minimum Qualifications PhD in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field OR MS Degree in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field with 10+ years of relevant work experience. We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Design Advisor with an advanced understanding of industrial and UX design principles, processes, and tools, and the ability to apply this knowledge to the conceptualization, design, evaluation, and development of medical devices and digital health systems.

They should also be able to influence multi-functional partners, adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and effectively lead external consultants.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Industrial Design Advisor will support the Industrial Design Team Lead in driving design activities for drug delivery devices and systems within the Delivery, Device, and Connected Solutions (DDCS) department. We are looking for a highly driven individual who will help craft a design culture within Lilly and develop a community of design thinking champions who will always put the user first.

Your extensive expertise in design will play an essential role in establishing a process that produces a design output of world-class quality and consistency. The role will drive design vision in partnership with a multi-disciplinary design team and multi-functional partners to apply human-centered design methodologies to provide intuitive, aesthetically purposeful, emotionally satisfying, and manufacturable products that meet the expectations of users as well as Lilly's brand identity.

Other responsibilities include

  • The position requires excellent organizational, design problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Lead multiple hardware and digital UX design efforts with internal and external design resources, from early to late stages of device development.
  • Lead multi-functional teams to consensus and think creatively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide feedback on all design aspects, including product development strategy, concept development, design language, device interaction experience, and design for manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with business partners, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, System Engineers, Human Factors Engineers, and other key functions to translate user needs into viable concepts, create initial device prototypes, and lead design throughout the development process.
  • Advocate for user experience and establish new partnerships inside and outside the company.
  • Ensure that quality design solutions are delivered in medical devices and digital device user interfaces, and that design outputs are consistent across Lilly's portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field OR MS Degree in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, User Experience Design or related field with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of design tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, ProE, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Fusion 360
  • Experience leading design teams
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in designing combination products or medical devices
  • Knowledge of human factors, user research methods, and usability testing practices
  • Experience in the design and development of digital user interfaces
  • Experience in circular design/design for sustainability
  • Experience working in a regulated industry is preferred

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$123,750 - $198,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
