Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

We have an opening for a CAD Operator for Highway Design working out of our Rochester or Syracuse office

What you'll be able to do:

  • Work closely with Design Staff to prepare engineering contract drawings (CADD drawings) 
  • Draft and develop engineering contract documents as directed from engineering mark‐ups, sketches, detailed drawings, and verbal direction 
  • Revise/update existing engineering contract drawings as required
  • Use CAD software to determine/calculate project construction item quantities 
  • Understand and apply client CAD standards and requirements 
  • Manage CAD computer files and understand CAD file interrelationships 
  • Assist Design Staff in the use of CAD software, including trouble shooting of CAD issues

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • High School Diploma or Drafting/Design/Engineering Technical School Certificate 
  • 3+ years MicroStation experience (New York State Department of Transportation and/or New York State Thruway Authority experience REQUIRED)
  • AutoCAD experience a plus 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel) Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
