The Custom Body Design Department is seeking a full-time Design Engineer to play a key role in designing and producing high-quality, custom truck bodies. This position involves creating detailed 3D models, 2D shop drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) to support production and vendor processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, ensuring custom sheet metal bodies meet customer specifications and contribute to overall production efficiency and customer satisfaction. What you'll do Designing custom sheet metal bodies to house Terex units and other equipment on truck platforms. Developing 3D models in SolidWorks based on customer quotes, specific design requirements, and safety standards. Creating detailed 2D shop drawings that include all necessary dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions for production. Generating bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure all necessary components are available for production. Reviewing and managing outsourced body designs for accuracy and adherence to specifications. Collaborating with cross functional teams to resolve ambiguities and ensure customer design approval. Updating drawings, BOMs, and other build documentation with customer changes and "as-built" changes that may occur during the build process. Applying engineering fundamentals to develop new custom body designs or enhance existing designs. Working with vendors to confirm that purchased parts meet required specifications and standards. Completing and signing off on engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Participating in design reviews to identify improvements and ensure compliance with manufacturing standards. Supporting production teams by addressing design-related issues and offering solutions. Performing additional duties as required. The Custom Body Design Department is seeking a full-time Design Engineer to play a key role in designing and producing high-quality, custom truck bodies. This position involves creating detailed 3D models, 2D shop drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) to support production and vendor processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, ensuring custom sheet metal bodies meet customer specifications and contribute to overall production efficiency and customer satisfaction.

What you'll do

  • Designing custom sheet metal bodies to house Terex units and other equipment on truck platforms.

  • Developing 3D models in SolidWorks based on customer quotes, specific design requirements, and safety standards.

  • Creating detailed 2D shop drawings that include all necessary dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions for production.

  • Generating bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure all necessary components are available for production.

  • Reviewing and managing outsourced body designs for accuracy and adherence to specifications.

  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to resolve ambiguities and ensure customer design approval.

  • Updating drawings, BOMs, and other build documentation with customer changes and "as-built" changes that may occur during the build process.

  • Applying engineering fundamentals to develop new custom body designs or enhance existing designs.

  • Working with vendors to confirm that purchased parts meet required specifications and standards.

  • Completing and signing off on engineering documentation, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).

  • Participating in design reviews to identify improvements and ensure compliance with manufacturing standards.

  • Supporting production teams by addressing design-related issues and offering solutions.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
