Required Skills and Abilities In-depth knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards. Familiarity with structural design and analysis, materials, and construction techniques for making informed decisions and ensuring compliance with regulations. Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred. Have Professional Engineer (PE) license. Setup and maintain an NCEES record for licensure. Four years of experience working in the building structural engineering field. Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work from a computer for prolonged periods of time. Ability to travel to perform site visits at various project locations around the country. Ability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds if needed. Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering components for transportation and transit projects, with a strong focus on utilities, site development, grading, and stormwater management systems.

  • Serve as the technical authority on project design decisions, ensuring quality, innovation, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

  • Utilize AutoCAD and MicroStation to produce and review detailed engineering drawings, models, and plans.

  • Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams, fostering collaboration between engineers, designers, and external stakeholders.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing technical training, performance feedback, and career development support.

  • Support business development by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and project planning.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of technical excellence.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois or ability to obtain Illinois licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive career experience in civil engineering, with a strong portfolio of utility, grading, and stormwater designs for transportation or transit projects.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.

  • Proven track record of leading technical teams and mentoring emerging professionals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $130,000 - $200,000 annually for this position and local market.
