This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for the analysis, development, testing, and qualification of structural subsystems for New Glenn's second stage and payload accommodations. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities include: Take ownership of the full lifecycle of hardware from requirements definition through concept development, design, analysis, testing, qualification, and integration Design, analyze, develop, and test primary and secondary metallic and composite unpressurized structures Complete hand calc and FEM analyses to report margins of safety for primary and secondary aerospace structures Perform research, develop concepts, and run trade studies Build system and detail level models supporting structural design Take ownership of structural test planning, execution, data reduction, analysis, and authoring of test reports Work with spacecraft customers in a technical capacity Own spacecraft structural integration cycles Prepare technical content and present to internal and external customers Perform access studies, loss of clearance analyses, vehicle clocking studies, and develop solutions to mission unique requirements Collaborate with internal and external teams throughout design, manufacturing, and mission integration Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures Experience on recently developed aircraft or launch vehicles in one or more of the following areas: Vehicle load path distribution, and first order strength assessment and sizing Skin-stringer, orthogrid, isogrid, and composite sandwich panel design Experience working in a multi-functional organization to develop designs and produce world-class engineered products Strong understanding of composite and metallic design fundamentals Demonstrated expertise with any industry standard analysis codes: Ansys, Nastran, Optistruct, Hypermesh Experience in bolted joint design and analysis Structural design experience using CAD (Creo/Windchill preferred), hand calculations, and FEA tools Ability to take ownership of the hardware lifecycle from requirements definition through concept development, design, analysis, testing, qualification, and integration onto a launch vehicle Strong written and verbal communication skills Collaborative attitude and effective interpersonal skills Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn, take ownership, and drive projects to completion Preferred Qualifications: Dynamic separation systems and interface design Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware Experience with fabrication using automated fiber placement (AFP) and tape laying (ATL) Experience or expertise with fabrication of large-scale out-of-autoclave composite structures Demonstrated experience developing manufacturing processes for transition to production Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control Experience with Optimization and Design of Experiments (DOE) methods as applied to design, analysis, and testing Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $117,498.00-$164,497.20 Other site ranges may differ Culture Statement Don't meet all desired requirements? Summary:

As the VP of Product Design, you will lead the design team at Clio to solve our most pressing product challenge: creating a unified, "all-in-one" experience across our expanding portfolio of products. This is not a "clean hands" role; it requires a leader who is ready to dig into a complex and challenging product landscape. Your success will be measured by your ability to improve our multi-product experience and, in turn, our NPS.

Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team. We need a high-energy, deeply engaged leader who will immerse themselves in our products and our customers' worlds. We are looking for a pragmatic problem-solver who sees design as a critical tool to make our products work better for the people who use them every day.

What you'll do:

  • Design & Research Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the product design and research team. Your primary objective is to drive the creation of a cohesive, multi-product experience that delights our users.

  • Accountability & Execution: Hold the design team, including managers, accountable for delivering measurable improvements. This includes fostering a culture of high energy, active collaboration, and ownership, moving away from disengaged, "screen-off" postures. You will ensure designers are actively talking to customers.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Revolutionize the relationship between design and engineering. You will lead the charge in breaking down silos and ensuring design is a proactive, collaborative partner, not a team that waits for product management to throw specifications "over the fence."

  • Strategic Vision: Develop and execute a design strategy that directly addresses the challenge of creating a unified experience across multiple products. You will be instrumental in leveraging design to solve real business problems.

  • Team Development: Lead and mentor an existing team of 40+ designers and managers. You are not a "kingdom-builder" focused on new hires and processes. Your role is to assess the current team, ensure the right people are in the right roles, and empower them to deliver excellence.

  • Hands-On Engagement: Dive deep into our products. We expect you to understand the intricacies of our offerings and speak with customers regularly to ensure we are solving their most pressing problems.

What you should have:

  • Product Design Leadership: Experience in product design leadership at a high-tech or SaaS software company with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product launches and multi-product experience.

  • Strategic & Tactical Execution: Ability to think and operate at a "strategic level," but drive execution on a "tactical level" with the willingness to roll up your sleeves.

  • Multi-Product Unification: Proven success unifying disparate product experiences into a single, cohesive user journey, especially in an environment of rapid growth or post-acquisition integration.

  • Design System Expertise: Experience developing and scaling a comprehensive design system across a multi-product SaaS portfolio to drive consistency, efficiency, and a unified brand identity.

  • Data-Driven Mindset: Highly analytical with the desire and ability to dig into metrics to derive insights through design dashboards.

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Ability to influence, partner, and communicate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and GTM business teams across a company to set and deliver on the design vision.

  • Pragmatic People Leadership: Proven ability to assess, mentor, and elevate an existing design organization. You energize teams, instill a culture of direct accountability from managers to individual contributors.

The full salary range* for this role is $224,700 to $321,000 to $417,300 USD.Please note salary bands may differ based on location and local currency. Additionally, benefit offerings may differ depending on the employee's location.

  • We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate.
