In this role, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems. In this role, you will focus primarily on developing and utilizing in-house design pipelines to produce detailed and accurate simulations of optical metasurfaces, including as components of complex multi-element systems. You will instruct collaborators on fabricating metasurfaces for use in trapped ion quantum computing systems. You will also have the opportunity to work with a cross-functional team of engineers and physicists to innovate the design of cutting-edge trapped-ion quantum computing modules and components, through your expertise on the opportunities and limitations of optical metasurface technology. The design workflows and simulation pipelines you build and use will help drive the overall development of a new and game-changing photonics technology to enable scalable quantum computing. Responsibilities: Build up the micro-optics and metalens design and simulation workflow, across multiple photonics and optics simulation tools, to ensure high accuracy, efficient, and detailed modelling. Model and optimize the design of meta-atom libraries using techniques such as finite-element analysis, FDTD, RCWA, etc. Utilize the simulation pipeline and ray-tracing tools to design and optimize metalens and micro-optic components Perform automated sensitivity and tolerance analysis on optical systems composed of meta-optic components Maintain high-quality, scalable, well-tested scripts and models through architecture and code reviews. Summary of Role: GlobalFoundries Fab8 is seeking a motivated R&D design enablement engineer to become part of our state-of-the-art 300mm fabrication facility in Malta, New York. This role will entail 3D heterogeneous integration (3DHI) design enablement to enable our next-generation advanced packaging R&D efforts, which include wafer-to-wafer bonding, die-to-wafer bonding, TSV/TOV and interposer development. Essential Responsibilities: Publish Design Manual (DM) specifications based on failure modes identified for packaging required by the product lines in partnership with the unit process and R&D engineers. DM is a collection of all technology restrictions (geometry rules, electrical rules, etc.) that must be followed for an integrated circuit (IC) design to be manufacturable. Advanced packaging liaison to the DM and PDK (Process Design Kit) teams to translate packaging requirements to a device enablement specification covering: design rules, library device(TSV) layouts, layout vs schematic(LVS) requirements, device model terminals. Develop expertise in drafting test vehicle content specifications and the associated tapeout process (including mask reviews). Develop expertise in drafting test specifications for test vehicle content (macros); engage with the test teams (inline and lab) to ensure alignment on test requests. Collaborate with vendors and OSATs (Outsourced Assembly and Test) on design (test vehicles, masks). Facilitate advanced packaging design interactions between the product lines/fab teams and customers. Work and collaborate with other teams regarding different assignments as needed. In the role of Senior Design Coordinator, we'll count on you to: Independently evaluate, select and apply architectural techniques, procedures and modifications to architectural construction documents Independently perform architectural assignments with only general instruction from the Project Architect or Project Manager regarding the expected results May work directly with owners/clients to select and recommend procedures Write specifications covering architectural matters and perform code reviews Assist Project Architects, other Architectural Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed, and take responsibility for work in all phases of the architectural process Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Architecture Experience in the areas of Data Centers or Mission Critical facilities Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired, but not required Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign Experience with SketchUp a plus, but not required Willing to travel on a semi-regular basis to the project sites Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field A minimum of 5 years professional or internship experience preparing details, specifications and construction documents Must possess credentials to obtain future registration Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process Demonstrated graphic presentation skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company. The Spectacles team is pushing the boundaries of technology to bring people closer together in the real world. Our fifth-generation Spectacles, powered by Snap OS, showcase how standalone, see-through AR glasses make playing, learning, and working better together.

This team of designers, prototypers, user researchers and product managers works in a highly collaborative environment to build the products and experiences that bring our community together in new and special ways.

We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our Spectacles team at Snap!

What you'll do:

  • Push the limits of AR on wearable devices and create innovative user experiences

  • Work closely with the product design teams to create and iterate on new prototypes

  • Work closely with engineering teams to build sophisticated prototypes

  • Work with user researchers to test new ideas and iterate on feedback

  • Present work directly to the CEO and company leadership

  • Build fun, innovative products that impact the direction of the company

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong computer science fundamentals

  • Expertise with Javascript and C#/C++

  • Solid understanding of real time AR development tools and 3D engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal, Lens Studio)

  • Familiarity with creating experiences for VR/AR

  • Familiarity with 3D math, linear algebra, 3D geometry, graphics, and rendering

  • Understanding of software engineering principles - and the ability to know when it's fine to abandon them for a quick proof-of-concept

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. You'll be expected to clearly communicate design decisions to leadership, the rest of the team, and to engineers

  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy

  • Capable of acting as a Product Manager when needed

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous work environment

  • A creative problem solver who has lots of ideas and sees solutions when most would not

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • Proficiency in designing, prototyping, and programming with real-time 3D engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal, Lens Studio)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various spatial design, prototyping and development software (e.g. Lens Studio, Figma, Blender, C4D, Unity)

  • Experience using LLMs and other generative models for application development

  • Bringing something new to the table: whether that's a new perspective on our product, a unique understanding of a particular field, or expertise in a particular field like AI, CV, ML, 3D graphics, HCI, etc.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
