You will play an integral role in the operation of a high-functioning and highly collaborative product team. You will partner with both the product managers and engineering leads to architect world-class user journeys, and ship cutting edge software to the fingertips of the millions of unique visitors that come to Homes.com each month. Responsibilities Lead a design effort including strategy, user flows, prototyping and visual design Collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues including product leads, researchers, engineers, marketing leads, and other designers Understand customer needs using different research techniques (surveys, interviews, observations, data analysis) Set the design standard high, striking the balance between strong usability and aesthetic appeal Collaborate with the product team to deliver design solutions using wireframes, flows, mockups, prototypes, etc. Contribute to our emerging design system with flexible solutions and drive the evolution of our design practices. Help elevate the team practices in user testing, research, and interaction design. Basic Qualification Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in person, University or College An excellent design eye and can take a design from ‘good’ to ‘great’ 5+ years of experience with product design, human-computer interaction, usability and user interface design, and/or visual design Strong abilities in sketching, prototyping, and evaluating interaction design Proficiency in design tools & prototyping tools such as Sketch and Invision Knowledge of the best practices for interaction design for cross-platform devices and applications Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills Experience working in an agile environment A track record of commitment to prior employers Preferred Qualifications Experience developing a Design System Experience in establishing product metrics Enjoy working with data, information and presentation concepts and working with other smart, data driven people An interest in real estate is a plus NOTE: This position requires that you present a portfolio of past projects as part of your application. Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Sr UX Designer. The Sr UX Designer requires a zeal for understanding users, an outstanding attention to detail, and an exceptional eye for striking visuals. You will collaborate with product management on customer discovery; create journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs; test and iterate on concepts; work closely with software engineers as they execute design requirements; and delve into analytics to understand the impact we are having on our customers’ experience with Daikin digital products. What you will do:

  • Operate within the Daikin Applied UX process, which includes discovery, ideation, visualization, and testing
  • Advocate the needs of the customer, fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and brand
  • Facilitate customer discovery sessions to uncover user needs, preferences, and pain points
  • Design intuitive, low-friction solutions, validate them through iterative testing, and refine them based on user feedback, to ensure alignment with real-world expectations
  • Work iteratively and collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team (product owners, software engineers, researchers), using lean and agile methodologies to explore, test, and implement designs
  • Lead end users, development team and partners with impact, and guide decision-making through a customer-focused approach rather then a ‘technology first’ mindset
  • Develop comprehensive user journey maps and task flows to visualize end-to-end user experiences and foster a better understanding of customer behavior
  • Sketch out low-fidelity wireframes, build interactive prototypes, and leverage Daikin Applied’s design system to deliver high fidelity mockups
  • Lead design reviews to validate them with the design team, product managers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders
  • Optimize the effectiveness of new and existing features by proactively planning, performing, and advocating validation techniques like usability testing, user research, and interpreting analytic data

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in design of mobile, web and embedded user interfaces
  • Lead discovery activities and user testing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Signficant experience with customer discovery techniques, including user interviews, usability testing, and journey mapping 
  • Strong grasp of information architecture, design patterns, and interaction design for data-heavy applications 
  • Expertise using Figma, Sketch, or the equivalent 
  • Advanced knowledge of design systems and how to apply them, while still creatively solving design problems 
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and other web technologies 
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in design of mobile, web and embedded user interfaces

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - $148,800 (+ 10-15% bonus) in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
