They must demonstrate the ability to handle breaking news effortlessly, report and produce original content from the field and have the stamina and energy to anchor for several hours. In addition to on-air duties, this position will represent WBZ News at a variety of public and station events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proven success in enterprise reporting as well as producing compelling stories that empower, connect, reach, and engage audiences through an empathetic lens that makes a difference in the community and give a voice for those left unheard
  • Comfortably report live and recorded, scripted and unscripted, with clarity, accuracy and confidence
  • Collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel to create compelling content and newsworthy stories
  • Maintain a steadfast commitment to accuracy and fairness
  • Write clearly and understand how to captivate viewers/readers, and use video and graphics to illustrate story facts and ideas
  • Build sources, generate story ideas and participate in editorial meetings in order to engage our audience
  • Must be able to shoot and edit video, utilize iNews rundowns, edit scripts and coordinate with crews in the field

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience on-air, preferably in a top 20 market
  • Passionate storyteller who wants to make a difference in the communities we serve
  • Must have very strong social media skills and be able to contribute on all platforms
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, weekends
  • Must be a team player, able to work under deadlines and have the ability to multi-task
