Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same. The Role Square Loans helps business owners access the capital they need to grow and manage their businesses. Our products provide simple, automated financing experiences built on Square's ecosystem, with billions of dollars in loans extended to sellers each year. Square Loans is also a major revenue driver for Square, making this work both technically complex and strategically important. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Global Lending team, you will operate as a trusted builder and problem-solver on the most complex and high-impact challenges facing our lending products. You'll go deep into technical, product, and architectural problems that are critical to the success of Square Loans, often where the right approach is not yet clear or where execution risk is high. A key part of your work will be rethinking our services and architecture to streamline development, improve maintainability, and accelerate delivery of new lending products. This position is deeply hands-on: you'll spend significant time in the code, shaping solutions directly while guiding the team toward long-term success. You'll help reduce technical risk, improve system health, and ensure our platform scales with the growing needs of sellers worldwide. You Will Solve ambiguous, high-risk, and cross-team challenges in lending systems by working directly in the code and carrying solutions from implementation to resolution. Rethink and evolve lending services and architecture to streamline development and accelerate delivery of new products. Guide the long-term architecture of lending services while contributing hands-on to critical builds. Partner with engineering, product, design, and risk teams to de-risk and deliver initiatives with outsized business impact. Raise the technical bar through design reviews, architectural guidance, and by setting high standards for resilience and maintainability. Mentor engineers to grow their technical depth and leadership capabilities. Advocate for lending needs across Square, ensuring alignment while simplifying integration with other products. You Have 12+ years of industry experience, with significant time designing and scaling large, complex systems A proven record of solving technically knotty problems with high ambiguity and risk Expertise in backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Ruby (and openness to learn others as needed) Experience guiding architecture for critical, high-throughput financial systems or equivalent domains while contributing hands-on to implementations. Strong ability to decompose ambiguous problems, propose pragmatic solutions, and execute to completion Experience influencing without direct authority, building trust across teams and functions Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when working across engineering and non-technical partners Technologies We Use and Teach Services: Java, Kotlin, Go, Ruby on Rails Data: MySQL, DynamoDB, Kafka, SQS Client: Ember.js, TypeScript, React Native Infra: Protocol Buffers, Temporal, Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS We're working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity, and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace. Block is an equal opportunity employer evaluating all employees and job applicants without regard to identity or any legally protected class. We believe in being fair, and are committed to an inclusive interview experience, including providing reasonable accommodations to disabled applicants throughout the recruitment process. We encourage applicants to share any needed accommodations with their recruiter, who will treat these requests as confidentially as possible. About EliseAI At EliseAI, we're improving the industries that matter most: housing and healthcare. Everyone needs a place to live and access to quality healthcare, yet both are often harder to secure than they should be. By integrating AI agents deeply into existing workflows, we make them more efficient, reduce costs, and improve the experience for everyone. Healthcare : We make it easy to schedule appointments, complete intake forms, and we help patients communicate with providers, so everyone can focus on health instead of paperwork. Housing : We simplify how renters tour apartments, sign leases, submit maintenance requests, and stay connected with their property team—bringing everything they need for their home into one place. With EliseAI, organizations reduce manual work, improve accessibility, and deliver a seamless experience across essential services. We recently raised a $250 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz to accelerate this mission. About The Role We’re looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to be the first dedicated full stack hire on the healthcare team. You’ll play a foundational role in shaping both the product and the technical architecture. This isn’t about executing a roadmap that’s already been defined—it’s about creating it. You’ll work across the stack and across functions to identify what we need to build, why it matters, and how to make it happen. You should be excited to own projects end-to-end, make foundational backend decisions, and drive features from zero to launch with minimal oversight. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, and operations to design and build user-facing features and internal tools that move the needle Own the development and launch of new products, working directly with clients to gather feedback and iterate quickly Build intuitive, high-quality front-end experiences for complex workflows with a strong focus on usability Make key backend design decisions, including API design, data modeling, and service architecture Develop modular, reusable components and systems to support scalability, maintainability, and engineering velocity Contribute to building the team’s technical culture through best practices, code quality, and thoughtful architecture Move at rocket speed, build something massive. We’re scaling fast, solving real client problems with precision and ambition. Here, you own your impact; full autonomy, no micromanagement, no fluff. We hire the best, expect the best, and give you the masterclass of your career. It’s hard, it’s intense, and it’s the most rewarding work you’ll ever do. If you’re hungry, driven, and ready to build something massive, climb aboard. Requirements 3+ years of experience building production software, including both frontend and backend work Strong proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React Affinity for good UX and passion for good UX experiences Experience building, maintaining, and monitoring APIs Embodies a startup mentality, demonstrates ownership, and effectively balances high-quality output with a keen sense of urgency Great at solving problems with little guidance and has a strong bias for action Willingness to work in person at our office 5 days a week Nice to have 2+ years of Python experience AWS experience Experience working with Relational databases Why Join Growth and impact. It’s not often that you can get in on the ground floor of a funded ( unicorn! ) startup that’s scaling so fast. That means that instead of following a playbook, you’ll be writing it. Every single day you will be challenged to identify how we can scale and execute on it. You’ll learn what works when you succeed and what doesn’t when you fail. Either way, the rest of the team will be here to support you. Benefits In addition to the growth and impact you’ll have at EliseAI, we offer competitive salaries along with the following benefits: Equity in the company Medical, Dental and Vision premiums covered at 100% Fully paid parental leave Commuter benefits 401k benefits Monthly fitness stipend A collaborative in-office environment with an open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, and company-paid lunch Fun company social events through our Elise and the City program Unlimited vacation and paid holidays We'll cover relocation packages and make the move exciting, not painful! The San Francisco Compute CompanySan Francisco, California
About Compute is a commodity. We think people should buy it like one. Startups shouldn’t be forced to buy a year’s worth of compute time in order to get market rate and compute providers shouldn’t go bankrupt because they can’t fully book their clusters. At SF Compute, our goal is to solve this issue the same way this was solved for every other commodity — by building a venue where compute contracts are traded in real-time and by bringing a new kind of participant into the supply chain, traders. If we succeed, buyers will be able to get a good price for any order, whether it’s 32 H100s for a month or 8,000 H100s for an hour, and sellers will instantly book out their clusters because traders will speculatively buy them, for a spread. Every FLOP will flow through us somewhere in the supply chain. What Brent is for oil, we will be for compute. About the Role As an engineer working on Large Scale Inference you will build and scale software systems that accept, distribute, and purchase compute for inference work loads. We're working with a cutting edge technology company as our partner. You will play a key role in building out and defining the inference products at SFC. You will work closely with a small competent team driving high impact revenue generating changes. You will have the opportunity to deliver the highest quality, most affordable inference products at scale. On a day-to-day basis, you might… Quantify, optimize, and visualize the unit economics of inference Design solutions to maximize compute utilization Create automated compute purchasing software to optimally fulfill inference job demand Scale inference software pipeline systems to hundred trillion token scale This role may be a good fit for you if… You enjoy the craftsmanship of software You’re a thoughtful high-agency engineer Have a deep appreciation for reliable fault tolerant systems Are a strong communicator and work well with others Have SQL experience Bonus points if you… Have previously worked at a startup Have interest in market dynamics Have previously scaled distributed work scheduling systems Are comfortable working in Rust Have some Kubernetes or terraform experience Benefits Generous equity grant Team members are offered a competitive salary along with equity in the company Visa Sponsorships Yes, we sponsor visas and work permits Retirement matching We match 401(k) plans up to 4% Medical, dental & vision We offer competitive medical, dental, vision insurance for employees and dependents and cover 100% of premiums Time off We offer unlimited paid time off as well as 10+ observed holidays Parental leave We offer biological, adoptive, and foster parents paid time off to spend quality time with family Daily lunch We cover lunch daily for employees Unlimited office book budget You can buy as many books for the office as you want The San Francisco Compute Company is committed to maintaining a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. We welcome the opportunity to consider qualified applicants with prior arrest or conviction records. Our commitment to diversity includes hiring talented individuals regardless of their criminal history, in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, including San Francisco’s Fair Chance Ordinance and California’s ban-the-box laws. Job Description

About Anon

Anon is building the platform that enables enterprises to deploy authenticated AI agents for their most critical data workflows.

We're solving one of the biggest challenges in enterprise automation: accessing and transforming data trapped behind authentication barriers. Our platform allows AI agents to securely connect to any web-based system, extract unstructured data, and deliver it through modern APIs.

Since 2023, we've helped industry leaders transform weeks-long manual processes into automated workflows that complete in minutes. We've raised $14M from Union Square Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, Okta Ventures, and Abstract Ventures.

Our vision: every business system should be accessible to AI agents. If you're excited about building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of AI applications, join our team of 12 in San Francisco.

  • Develop embeddable JavaScript components and authentication modals for customer integrations

  • Build and maintain scalable APIs, data pipelines, and authentication workflows across platforms

  • Develop integrations with third-party services and maintain comprehensive test suites

Collaborate & Learn

  • Understanding of UX/UI principles and ability to translate designs into functional interfaces

  • Experience with browser automation tools is a plus

Culture Fit

  • Autonomy - Take initiative, execute with quality, and own all outcomes

  • Drive - Show motivation to win, hunger to learn, and resilience through challenges

  • Communication - Foster clarity, trust, and alignment through effective communication and documentation

  • Builder - Actively create teams, products, and systems through hands-on execution

  • Curiosity - Drive to learn, question, and improve while exploring new ideas

  • Craftsmanship - Build high-quality, maintainable software while balancing best practices with pragmatism

In Conclusion

We're looking for builders who want to define the future of AI authentication while working across the entire technical stack.
